Can’t those signings be returned to sender? Just a thought

I wrote in an earlier post Cove are a part time club, none of his signings would want or could afford to live on part time wages.

depends on what their part time wages are and the type of other work they may find for players. planty of players have actually gone part time as in the end their wages are higher.

Neill Byrne is close to signing a permanent deal with Stockport County according to one report. So, he gets a transfer not a loan move, as well as staying in the North-West. Challinor evidently rates him higher than some of our fans.

DC just likes putting the old band back together ... Feaths could only dream of getting a start in that Stockport side and if it wasnt for the brilliance of MSH... Sterry also would be on the move id imagine

I doubt very much a full time player would revert to part time not unless they were in the twilight of their career and the job involved football.

yes with injuries they were like pools, down to one recognised central defender for their last game. thing is they can afford to do quicker business than pools can.

The concern for me is that the teams at the bottom with us have already started strengthening significantly or are making very loud noises (Gillingham/Crawley) about doing so in the coming weeks - with some very decent names being bandied about.

From our POV, if our window consisted of Dolan, Hartley, Walker, another defender and a young striker on loan, I would be worried.

We need the Armstrong type signing of the promotion season - that completely gave us a new way to play. Not only did he convert goals, he was the catalyst for huge improvements in performance from those around him. Who that player is? Not for me, that’s for the head of recruitment… but that’s the ilk for me we need to be buying in to survive. I’m slightly dubious on the credentials of players from Poolie past - SHOULD the rumours be true that the above players are nearly signed.

Lavery just scored for scunny n stelling said I dont think he will be there much longer. Probably putting two n two together making five but it got me thinking maybe coming here.

We actually had Lavery on trial after we got promoted, think he played against Blyth. He's never really been prolific at L2 level

We are 22nd, two points above Rochdale and five above Gillingham who have a game in hand. Our next league fixture is Gillingham away which wiil be a challenge, I dont think they'll do a Crawley. The Gills defence is very strong although they dont score many. I watched their televised FA Cup game against a full strength Leicester side and they did very well, only losing 1-0. I cant think we will score against them so we will be relying on our defence not cocking up if we are to get a point.

An intriguing revelation. Well....... fingers crossed he chooses us rather than Stockport, Walsall, Tranmere etc. Raj will need to open his wallet.

KC earlier. "Today was not our day. The cup dream's over. The realism now is to focus on the league. We've got new players coming into the building and there will be more. That's part of the progression we see."

KC is so laid back and gives the impression that it is only a matter of time before the jigsaw is complete. I have doubts and, like everyone else, I am extremely concerned about our ability to maintain our league status.

Agree about Bennet but he will need the service from the wings think him and Umerah could be a fairly good partnership up front but what we need is defenders sign Hartley till end of season anew right back on loan as cover for Sterry whose fitness is a major worry and will probably keep him at the club and also a new keeper. A forward that might be worth looking at is Kane Hester at Elgin city has scored 20 goals last season and 16 already this season,

That ship sailed as soon as we got promoted.
Some fans swallowed the short window bullshit.

3 windows later and we scraping the barrel as per normal.
We showed more ambition with non league no covid crowds.

Obviously the plug has been pulled and we trying to survive on the fans n sponsors moneys plus last seasons cup runs.
Time for change at the top.

Now let's have another CB, that RB from Boro who has been on loan at Darlo, a striker and a pacey winger. Then go for some icing.
Then I might just be tempted to be happy.

Another cb def needed, the fact a 35 year old playing in India is and obvious upgrade to Murray and Lacey shows how weak we are

actually prefer to see players coming in dribs and drabs rather than say bringing in 4 or 5 at once with the problem of bedding them in with the others.

Can we only attract ex players now? We're certainly not going for speed in our team at the minute. Joe allon and Baker be next.

A fair point - so long as we have a decent squad by Saturday - as, pretty soon, none of this might matter!

Now, I will admit that I know nothing about Indian football but I can't think off hand of any good ex EFL pros playing out there. Why can't we just do the sensible thing and sign EFL players who are match fit and who have performed well for their present clubs. Ah yes, there would be a price to play. Curle sounding very relaxed about everything doesn't cut it for me. If we go down it won't make a jot of difference to his lifestyle so I am confused as to how bothered he really is. If we are signing Dodds from Boro why is it taking so long to confirm? Guessing it will be another one that's got away.

Over the years there have been dozens. Try these for a start:

England
Adam Le Fondre – Mumbai City – 2020–21
Adil Nabi – Delhi Dynamos – 2015
Antonio German – Kerala Blasters – 2015–16
Carl Baker – ATK – 2017–18
Chris Dagnall – Kerala Blasters – 2015
Conor Thomas – ATK – 2017–18
David James – Kerala Blasters – 2014
Gary Hooper – Kerala Blasters – 2020–21
James Bailey – Pune City – 2015
James Keene – NorthEast United – 2014
Jermaine Pennant – Pune City – 2014
John Johnson – Bengaluru, ATK – 2017–20
Marcus Williams – Kerala Blasters – 2015
Matt Mills – Pune City – 2018–19
Matthew Kilgallon – Hyderabad – 2019–20
Michael Chopra – Kerala Blasters – 2014, 2016
Nicky Shorey – Pune City – 2015
Paul Rachubka – Kerala Blasters – 2017–18
Peter Hartley – Jamshedpur – 2020–2022
Peter Ramage – Kerala Blasters – 2015
Roger Johnson – Pune City – 2015
Ryan Taylor – ATK – 2017–18
Steve Simonsen – Pune City – 2015
Steven Bywater – Kerala Blasters – 2015
Steven Taylor – Odisha – 2020–21
Tom Thorpe – ATK – 2017–18
Wes Brown – Kerala Blasters – 2017–18
Matt Derbyshire – NorthEast United – 2022

Hartley will prove to be an excellent signing.
