Yep but of course they know nowt these markets. The irony is that the North East has gotten a lot from the EU, arguably investment it doesn't get from its own government. Added to this, bloody Sunderland whose economy is totally reliant on Nissan which is totally reliant on stable conditions to export to the Euro zone.

It beggars belief apart from fact people voting have no care about economic realities of the modern world. Worrying results so far and says a lot about the demographics of the north east

It was scary looking at the type of people celebrating at the vote in sunderland. Almost to a man middle aged bald blokes with large stomachs.

Very much like the style of the english fans causing chew in france.

Our future in their hands. Oh deary me.

Today is a great day! The only question remaining is whether it will be Sir Nigel or Saint Nigel.

The man is truly odious, the comment he's just made about doing this 'without a bullet being fired' is about insensitive and idiotic as it comes.

Uncertain times are ahead, we'll see if we have reason to celebrate in the months and years to come. Firstly though Cameron has to fall on his sword, this referendum should never have happened he only called to win a majority in the election.

Northern Ireland is an interesting one we've already had a comment from Sinn Fein about a United Ireland. Northern Ireland voted to stay in the EU and as a result of the votes in England will now have a closed border with the Republic. It's going to kick off there again isn't it?

The whole thing is truly depressing.

Tell Scotland they can stick their referendum up their arse.

Tell Ireland that they can have the north back and give those with a love of Britain an opportunity to resettle over here.

Great Britain surrounded by water...perfect!!

The headline on the tv is saying the uk has voted to leave.

Thats not true.

England and wales have.

This is going to be hilarious now when scotland tell england and wales to do one.

Only two thirds of scotland voted as well.

Bet a lot of people there are regretting that now.

Politics has never been more interesting.

Cameron has got to leave.

The tories will vote in johnson.

There will be a snap general election.

And there will be a hung parliament will nearly all mps voting to remain.

Its mad as fook but also very funny.

Never commented on this. The vote has been held and an outcome arrived at at. Now it's howling at the moon time or collective back slapping all round depending on your viewpoint.
Life goes on .

We can set some nice high taxes for goods heading to Scotland through England/Wales/NI once they leave. Should make us some money...

The area I live in was 57/43 to leave. Not shocking because it's full of old people.

Surprised at Hartlepool being 70/30. Is it people just pissed off at the decline of the town or something else?

I think a lot of people in hartlepool are pretty thick so it could be fear of all of those Muslamic Ray guns.

Immigration is a massive issue up Owton Manor.

Massively pissed off but I suppose it is strangely appropriate that an English nationalism that endlessly looks back to the greatness of the British Empire has probably just ushered in the end of the UK.

There is a personal silver lining though - visiting my Dad soon and my euros are going to buy a lot of Duchamp socks.

Thats not the point. This is Hartlepool.

Remember in Hartlepool the people have two main reasons for voting leave.

Fear, Surprise and a fanatical devotion to Farage.

Will it affect Brits living in Europe much? Not an issue I paid much attention to since I'm unaffected but there's potential for me to become an immigrant in Europe in the future.

Surely any benefits will be retained between us and European nations as long as they are mutual. I'm no expert but I don't foresee any major changes.

Now saying that Gibraltar is going to be a huge issue, and could casue massive relationship problems between Engalnd and Spain.

Absolutely bizarre vote.

And ex-pats living in Spain now very worried as well.

Depends on why you're over here really. If you're retired the biggest thing is the reciprocal health care entitlement and a weak pound reducing the value of your pension. For people with enough cash to throw at private insurance and to absorb the cut in income it isn't too bad.

I work here through my own company and it could get even more difficult thanks to this. Worst case scenario is that the fooking lunatics who think they'll negotiate trading access to the EU without agreeing to free movement of labour persist with their plan. In that case I could end up needing a work permit unless I become a French citizen. In either case the local bureaucracy will take enormous pleasure in making life difficult.

Add in that I'm currently paying tax, social charges and pension contributions in France and the agreement that merges all of them with your UK payments will almost certainly go and I could end up old and skint despite having worked my knackers off over here.

On the other hand it might all be OK. I'm sure we can trust Boris, Gove and Farage to handle things sensibly.

Anywhere else you need a 2/3 majority for a major constitutional change. Selling the UK down the Swanee for a 2% swing just doesn't make sense. Parliament has to stop this nonsense, but anything is possible where personal political careers are the only motivation.

But at least I know I am not surprised as I have said it on numerous occasions, about the so-called good folk of Hartlepool. I wish I could get out.

Its intersting how the debate on all TV stations is managing to avoid the issues regarding Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Gibraltar. These issues are going to destroy the UK.

There wont be a uk.

There may well be extreme violence in Ireland. As Gerry Adams has already intends to go for a united Ireland.

I dont suppose those that voted leave will actually care. I havent heard one leave voter commenting on it.

Some fat woman from Wales on the tv now moaning that all of the jobs in hotels etc are done by Poles.

Well thats all fine and dandy.

So lets get rid of the foreign workers from all ofour hotels.

And lets see just how many white english people take those jobs. I guarantee there wont be many.

This highlights how mad this is:

The major party in Northern Ireland have welcomed the UK result. Yet the people of Northern Ireland voted to remain by 14%.

So can someone explain how that is in any way demcratic.

No wonder Sinn Fien are after united Ireland.
