1) We get big crowds when Pools are inspiring the Poolies. We get bad crowds when Pools play consistent shite. Gates have ten times the cube root of sweet fook all to do with season ticket prices.
2) People keep comparing season ticket costs with on-the-gate prices without having seen what surprises are in store on the latter front. mwahahaha

what those running pools need to do is set prices at rates that will attract more fans without bankrupting the club. they could reduce prices by reducing the wage bill. you could reduce the wage bill/running costs at pools without weakening the first team imho.

Reducing the wage bill would reuslt in a worse squad than we have now and we cant attract players as it is with low wages and being in the north-east.

This is getting a bit silly, we know some people will never be satisfied.

I will be buying 4 season tickets again this year and will be saving about £130 on last years prices.

My seats will be guaranteed - I won't have to queue for any big game tickets - I will use the vouchers for discounted meals in the Centenary lounge - and I will be supporting my team.

I am more than satisfied

Very good. But you will always go. As will I.

But at these prices we wont attract any new fans. Thats the whole point.

And lets face it, there is plenty of moaning from the regualrs about those that dont attend.

i think if chip can reduce the wage bill significantly without reducing the quality in the squad then pools should employ him immediately. Fucking miracle worker. our wage budget last season must have been around 1.35 million based on the figures mad john suggested were the average league one wages. Now 3500 people all paying an average of 15 quid a match would mean income was around 1.2 million. So we are already running at a loss and that was with a very small squad. Now we know we have to improve the size and quality of the squad and the only way to do that is.....

Chip of course there are extremes but I'm talking about prices in a sensible range.
Obviously if it was 10,000 quid a ticket no one would go. And if it was £1 a ticket to see Pools Ladies play I doubt many would be queuing up for a ticket either.

Read my post again. I did not say we got big crowds when we played well. I said we got big crowds when Pools were inspiring the Poolies. You did understand that, right?

im sure ior dont want to make a profit. However i bet they never expected to be losing 2 million a year with pools. Maybe spender can confirm that while losing money isnt a major issue, losing a fucking lot of it isnt good either.

i can reduce the wage bill at pools and make the team as equally successful if not more.

it's simple.

My consultancy fees are cheap at £2200 per week. £1100 for my assistant

This applies to any businessman wanting to reduce his costs, me and my assistant will sort you out!

5 ) football generally, as a form of entertainment, is a grossly over-priced product, and players wages across the board ( which largely determine admission prices ) are obscene. at some point pools and other lower league clubs need to stand up and say it has to stop. there are players at pools earning well in excess of 50k a year who are frankly, bobbins.[/quote]

I agree - but Pools can't just go it alone and slash wages so they can reduce ticket prices. That would be a route to ruination with crap players, low crowds and relegation almost a certainty. Football is over priced especially at this level but it doesn't just apply at Pools.

Exactly. Pools playing Leeds is believe it or not inspiring to a lot of people, as was Leeds vs Pools in 1979 when we were playing a lot more shitily than we do now (admittedly against a lot superior Leeds but the name lingers on...). Then as soon as the inspiration goes, we're back down to 3000 again.

Surely the club need to be looking at ways of engaging with new fans, bringing more people to the Vic.

I get the impression on here that some seem to think the club would like to just hang onto the 3000 or so sad bastads.....sorry regulars.

Surely thats not the case?

Up and down the land other clubs seem to be introducing much cheaper match day tickets, season tickets, to get the fans in.

Once you have them in, they are easily hooked. Especially those as gullible as you lot on here.

ANy floating fans, that may come to pools are more likely to go one of the big three, even though they may enjoy pools more.

Its not about giving tickets away, its about being realistic in the current economic climate. I dont think pools are being realistic. And some of you just buy into the theory that by paying more pools get better players. It just doesnt work like that.

Pools need to get the overall turnover up. Surely more firms would advertise if there were more punters in the ground?

Pools would have more of an advantage with a bigger crowd, thus meaning better results, thus meaning even bigger crowds.

Do you truly think anyone who bought a season ticket for 100 quid last season will have been hooked after what we served them up?
Back in the bad old 70s, when footballers weren't getting paid any more than anyone in a decent job, it was about a quid to get in; a programme cost a shilling or 5p.
No one had to even think if they could afford to go to a match.

There still weren't many who got hooked back then though, were there? There was bugger all to hook them unless they liked kicking the fook out of away supporters.

I started going in the early 70's and even though it was invariably shiite I still got hooked. Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment or I'm just easily pleased! It's like life I suppose, mainly monotonous and grim with the odd good bit thrown in here and there violin

In past seasons I have usually been watching Premiershi* football but this season I have deceided to return to VP as a season ticket holder. Yes I think £350 for a ST in the CKS is a lot of money in this current climate but I think to myself what would I be doing if I wasnt at football? The answer is I would be tipping that £350 down my throat at the bar (not in one session may I add). Hartlepool United was the first ever team I supported in 1994 and I take great pride in that. I have saved up and I now have my first season ticket at Pools and I am looking forward to the season starting. I travel from York to games and therefore have travel on top of my £350 so certain people on here dont have the travel costs so £350 is a snip to locals. Rant over!!!
