Do you seriously believe that the club dont realise that people will just 'buddy up', thats the whole idea, to encourage more people to attend on a regular basis, they dont care how they get the money, just as long as they GET the money AND the crowds.

That's not the way that they're trying to sell it on the official website or in The Mail.

I can actually see both sides although due to the saving I make I do believe that it is a great offer. and I am "buddying" up with a mate not someone off an intenet board.

Maybe there may be some other offers to help the fans who have purchased season tickets over a number of years.

A 100 draw something like that, were only fans who have been season ticket holders for more than 3 years are included. On condition they are season ticket holders this season.

This can include various prizes, so many fans given a box with a meal over a number of games.

But someone will find fault with that.

Ripper you have been a good fan of Pools' over the years , and although I admire your principles in saying you wont purchase a season ticket this season, it seems a shame that Pools will lose a FAN LIKE YOU.

Even more of a shame when most on here know that some/most of those who purchase, for a cheap ticket this season may never return.

I don't think the Mail is trying to sell anything, it's just reporting the facts. By the way, I have "buddied" up with Mouldy's mayte and will have a seson ticket for £227! Jackpot! I still feel Ripper has a point like.

I am going to save a considerable amount of money and, at the same time, am helping to save a considerable amount of money for another two people. I am winning and two fellow poolies are winning.
As for your suggestion on how to involve people in deception, I would be very careful before you embarked down that path. The club have put a scheme forward which you can either take part in or ignore.
You have got to remember who we are talking about deceiving here. Anybody, and I mean anybody, who deliberately sets out to cheat or deceive the club ought to be banned sine die.

So you are getting two friends of yours to buy season tickets and are going to share the discount with them?

You're not just "buddying up" with some random folk off an internet message board?

Cos if you were then that could be considered to be some kind of deception, scam or cheating of the system.

Not so I'm afraid. I have already checked with the club and had it sanctioned. The person you 'buddy' up with doesn't have to be a relative or friend. Those words are used as examples. You could buy the ticket as a gift. Most people will just divvy up the cost so everyone wins. I don't think the club are in a position to check who is related to who or how long people have been friends.
You don't want to have anything to do with it..................that's fine by me and I get the message. Please forgive me for not agreeing with you, its just that I think it is a good deal.
I'm saving £120 before I start getting involved with anybody else. I am not in the business of refusing a piece of cake just because someone else might get a bigger piece.

I phoned the club today and asked the question. You are going to have to take my word on that.
You could of course ask them yourself.

I've only really read the season ticket info today and I'm a bit pissed off to be honest. I've been a season ticket holder in previous seasons but wasn't in 2006/2007 because of a couple of holidays during didn't make it worth my while. I was a season ticket holder in the Cyril Knowles last season (even though I was again missing a lot of games through going to India and Sri Lanka) at a cost of £414 (with card fees) and this 'deal' means my season ticket is going cost exactly the same if I play by the rules.

Obviously we have ways around it, getting a couple of our tickets in someone else's name for example means you can effectively have a season ticket at £250 each which is excellent but it doesn't feel right that I have to break the rules (effectively commit fraud) to do this when I am an existing season ticket holder who was going to renew almost regardless of the price.

Why couldn't it have just been all existing season ticket holders?

Whether it's been "sanctioned" or not I don't give a toss.

What made me laugh was the "yeah but I've asked Miss and she said I can do that" kind of way that it was said. rolfl

Well Mutters please consider this.
We have two camps here. On the one hand we have the camp of intelligent Poolies who are grouping together and saving considerable sums of money and then we have the camp who are whinging and whining about the size of their piece of cake.
From my point of view, I am going to save a considerable amount of money just by renewing our season tickets and considerably more by matching with other Poolies. Now you and Ripper can mock as much as you like but the only people laughing are the people who take up the offer.

What is complicated about that?

Nothing complicated.

They're basically penalising me and many others for forking out in advance last season for a season ticket that had next to no discount on it.

Had we not been stupid enough to have bought them last summer at over inflated prices then we'd have been eligible to get in for next to nowt this season.

So fk em.

So Mr Ripper, you have admitted you were stupid last season for buying a season ticket at top wacker. To compound the issue, and to enforce that you are really stupid you are going to turn down a £40 discount and the chance of further savings this coming season. If that wasn't enough to prove how daft you are you are proposing to pay £20 on a match by match basis.

Tickhill, you claim to be intelligent yet buy into whatever the club want to feed you as though they can do no wrong. Your inability to see the problems with their "offers" makes you the nugget.

I'm not proposing to pay £20 match by match by the way. It's £18 where I stand.

And if I don't go to all of the games, which without a season ticket I won't, then I will spend less over the year.

For a start, unless they are top of the table clashes (which are unlikely) then I will give the daft Friday night games a miss. Football is meant to be a Saturday thing and I don't like Friday night matches. So there's probably at least three games. On top of that I'll probably be away in Spain several times during the season if I haven't bought a season ticket and will miss a few more games. I might go away at Christmas or New Year for a change too.

And that is without the 3 pints and the burger that I buy in the ground every time I go to the match.

So if you want to lay claim to your own intelligence then I'm pleased for you. You probably feel the need as nobody else has ever made that claim on your behalf.

I tried blind loyalty last summer and this season they've basically thrown that back in my face. If you want to continue with blind loyalty when they are clearly trying to take the piss then good luck to you.

Maybe he does.

Maybe he doesn't.

My gripe, as I've reiterated once or twice, is not the prices but the Ts & Cs attached to them and their potential implications.

OK, there are ways to "beat the system" for want of a better way of putting it- "buddying up" on here, or getting a ticket in a different name.

My point was and remains that you shouldn't have to do that.

And for all of you existing season ticket holders getting a ticket in somebody else's name this year, just be wary of next years bright idea which might bite your arse if they only offer discounts to people who've held a ticket for the last 5 years and you miss out cos of trying to comply with this year's ludicrous rules.
