Did they really happen?

There was a Chinese restaurant in Church Street c1970 that was caught serving cat. Allegedly they had a cat flap on the back door that only opened one way - inwards and inside was a cage.

True or not ?

Proper Chinese Restaurants do serve cat. However I doubt that the Hong Kong ever did.

What about Dead Mans Hollow up near the top of Park Road?? We used to go past it on cross country runs from the Grammar. Rumour was that a bloke hanged himself up there and his corpse could be seen swinging about at midnight.

Or the ghost upstairs in the Birds Nest??Image

Oh yeah. Last time I heard about it, it was spotted on the fields where Throston Golf Course now stands

Didn't some of the panthers escape from a zoo that used to be in northumberland.? I've never seen it, I've seen some dodgy pihoto's of it in the local rag but thats about it.

PP is the man with the knowledge ... he helped dig them.

There is a tunnel, leading from the Fish Sands, to the Fishermans, Cos up to the New Inn.

What were they for? I actually thought the tunnel from the Cos was older than that...hence its link with the grey lady legend

PS How did you get to be a bin man?

Oh, I see, this is another joke about poor mr poolpower

lies all lies
the only tunnels i know of is the fish sands one
bricked up a long time ago this is right next to where the sand pit was there was some stairs that took you to a room under st hildas chare supposed to be a bolt hole for nuns...
but as a wee lad never ventured past the top of the stairs but we did store our bommy stuff in there
the other one i have been in is similar next to the sand gate arch on the fishie's
again another subterranean room that went no where but historical pics of the past reveal a second entrance from the beach to the croft
