Agree. A reality check so we dont sail into next week full of misplaced confidence. Today's starting 11 were not the strongest except for the forwards and no doubt Grayson experimented with formations as he likes to do. Having said, that no one likes to lose.

No surprise that the first proper teams we have played rolled us over with ease. To lose all your best players in an already poor team is going to take a massive job to get us anywhere. Saying that it was the best thing possible to happen, fancy not having a proper test before the season starts, really was a strange choice of friendlies.

Apart from the Leeds United game which made perfect sense for Feather's testimonial, the schedule for the rest did not make sense especially the early ones against teams who are much below NL standard. IMO we should have played Shields and/or another NLN outfit a few weeks back and secured a real test at that stage instead of now with no games remaining for Grayson to try out his strongest line up (if he indeed knows what that is). Dunno who is responsible for setting up the pre- season schedule but with the club operating in a virtually amateur fashion what more should we really expect?

Jesus i think a few of you posters need to take a chill pill such negativity and probably haven't been to any of the friendlies so you carnt even comment on the team cos you haven't even seen them play yet.

I have watched some of the friendlies and appreciate all of the above but at the end of the day, friendly game or not, experimental side or not there's NO WAY that we should be losing 0-2 at home to such as South Shields. It will be very interesting to hear Simon Grayson's views in respect of this unexpected setback.

The warning signs are there for everyone to see but the usual suspects will never see them until 20 games into the season. A team we steam rollered last season have turned us over on our own patch like most national north teams seem to do, friendly or no friendly Last week we were guaranteed the play offs after struggling past redcar and fc hartlepool now all of a sudden its just fitness. The squad is weak as piss, if we haven't conceded by half time at Yeovil I will be pleasantly shocked we are so underprepared to face anyone decent its laughable. How were we ever going to know any issues playing against u21 under 18s and gimme teams.

Wake wakey its not about a friendly its how far we slump every single season, new lows after new lows . How can you take positivity after being overun by a team that were northern league not so long ago. If we had won 5 nil today everyone would of been claiming what a great team we are this should be a major wake up call. No proper keeper 1 week before the season, the manager saying players aren't quite ready due to signing late, first team of anywhere near our standard walking over us.
