Seems we keep going for players with big price tags

If his contract is up then surely the price tag is decided by tribunal like when we lost Conlon (or was it Halliday?) so whatever price tag their chairman is banding about makes no odds?

Yeah but in these situations its much quicker and easier for the clubs to agree a fee, plus the chairman won't want to go to tribunal as the little clubs always get less than the market value for their players.

Can't see a transfer from a Div 2 club to a Div 1 club attracting anything like £300k. They'll be lucky to get £100k plus a sell on cluase.

That's not their opininion

Stags chairman James Derry said: "Simon King has just gone from Barnet to Gillingham for £200,000 and I don't think he is anywhere near as good Bap.

"He has also played more than 150 games for the club, is younger than King at 21 and is more versatile.

"All those factors means Bap has to be worth £300,000 in today's market."

Mansfield can't afford to turn down even say 80K.

Didn't Paul Sturrock say Monkhouse was worth 250K??

Well I just paid for my rather extortionate season ticket yesterday. So, I'm expecting good players to be bought with the proceeds! IOR should think of it as an investment and start getting their hands in their pockets. I'm sure they'll get their rewards somewhere down the line...
