Because they don't celebrate Christmas or Birthdays - and want your family to be as miserable as theirs.

I'll dig it out sometime...it's still in a box somewhere after moving.
I sold a book by Alan Mead called Skinhead Girls about 14 years ago...got I think about £380 for it. Gutted I sold it but was out of work at the time and needed the money. sadx

No…we let them have a false sense of security …let them come on drive and bring the Baskerville’s in from the garden , stick em in hallway and as soon as they knock at the door light the blue touch paper and stand well back.
NEVER OPEN THE DOOR.

I have a number of those skinhead books by Richard Allen. I believe they have a value but I haven’t got round to looking in to it.

I picked them up at school in the 70s and just hung on to them.

Yeah they are worth a bit. If you have the full set even better. I've only got 2 of them.

Could be worse, you might have had an islamist at the door with explosives hidden on him. Whether you agree with what they do or not, it takes nothing to politely say no thanks and shut the door.

that easier said than done as my mother once found out and had to let the dog out to see how fast they could make it to the gate. best thing is to just ignore them as its obvious who they are.

I find them strange…some say invite them in, offer them tea and biscuits, sit them down and ask them about their beliefs………. They go silent apparently..they’re not used to ever getting that far, so their brain overloads and they leave in tears.

hope pools do not employ them to go round selling season tickets for next season and have a column in the watchtower where you can find football and god in the same space.

I used to get them calling round here quite often.
And I have a good 20 minute chat on the doorstep about all sorts of topics each time they visit.
Often see them around the shops etc and say hello to them.
All depends on their characters but they are pleasant enough, more pleasant than the neighbours for sure!
And yes they leave reading material which I often use as a debate next time they call.
Mind you it has been a while...maybe they relocated to where Snowy lives!

we never had them for years but they made a comeback last year for a few months. seem to have gone again. just wonder as there cannot be that many of them and they go across the country from town to town for this to happen. even if that happens you might see more of them than pools scouts at grounds.

l I have no time or patience for people flogging religion/ fairy tales.
I treat them in much the same way an East German Border Guard would greet anyone from the West, with complete indifference.
When you don’t speak, they get the message and their story books can remain in their possession for eternity.
Odd balls are best not encouraged.

funny how times have changed. 60 odd years back views like we have on this would be quite a minority view like being a republican. athiests would get more stick than any odd ball sect get now.

It's been extremely fashionable to be an atheist in recent times Accy.

Many have endeavoured to popularise it over the years, and it's gone through the (leaky church) roof since Ricky Gervais became a fanboy for it.

Until now.

Church attendance is heading upwards again according to the news yesterday, as are Bible sales.

Seems that "Big Daddy, The Kid and Spooky" - as Dave Allen once referred to them - are trendy again.

Which might inspire PJ Proby to make another comeback, streamed live from his cave at Blackhall Rocks...

 Aye, sounds about right.

There is a mildly-amusing thread in the "Peterlee Have Your Say" group on Faeces-book regarding PJ temporarily living in a cave at Blackhall.

This was apparently after he got chucked out of his digs at the Hardwick for punching the landlord. It allegedly occurred during one of his many comebacks in the 1970s, when he was the star-turn at The Senate nighclub in Peterlee.

It's almost like their version of the Pools v Man U cup match, in that every Yacker of a certain age claims to have put-up Mr Splitty Pants on their couch for at least one night.

YACKER FACT: Both Roy Walker of "Catchphrase" fame and The Krankies briefly lived in Peterlee back then.

Rumour has it they were filming a remake of ‘Lady Chatterley’s Lover’ on location in Horden.
