On the news that the average price of a pint is set to rise to £5 in April due to Labours tax rises.

Nailed on more pubs will go under.

Off topic us taxpayers are now paying £5.5 million a day to hotel Boaties.

These bastads Labour can't keep blameing
Covid
War in Ukraine
Rishi s. Inheritance black hole.

Now free school meals could be of the Menu.

Fact is the boaties human beings actually the majority were here before Labour were in power, you can’t just wave a magic and clear the 108000 current asylum seeker claims, the war in Ukraine was ongoing and The Covid-19 pandemic resulted in very high levels of public spending. Current estimates of the total cost of government Covid-19 measures range from about £310 billion to £410 billion. This is the equivalent of about £4,600 to £6,100 per person in the UK.
I think it will take more than a year to sort the U.K. economy out, they inherited huge debts from the previous government of 14 years, they have to be paid back although I am not in agreement how Labour are going about it.

The pertinent facts are that they are arriving since the election in record numbers!
Starmers manifesto included stopping the use of hotels yet the bill continues to rise.
Meanwhile he's set up a new Quango at almost 1 per week since coming to power at a cost of tens of billions, eg Great British Energy at £10bn to secure energy and keep costs down - huge success there then!
He's swanning around the world portraying himself as the great global statesman while our lives get worse by the day. These are problems of his own making and of course the making of his incompetent cabinet particularly Reeves.

the only way the boat people affect the price of a pint is that they will not be buying beer or using pubs making the ones using them even a smaller percentage of the population. about time pub users are seen as a minority as minorities seem the ones classed as a special case with those in power stepping over backwards to help them.

A boy in a man’s world, he would only tell you what you want to hear like all politicians do, or deflect the question.
Take Trump he was going to end the Ukrainian Russia in a day, asked why he hasn’t replied it was only a sarcastic comment, denied he ever called Zelensky a dictator although he did twice, politicians the same the world over, liars.

To jump to his defence when criticised, ….is ‘defending’ him.
You do have this odd habit of riding to the rescue and when proven wrong, ignoring the evidence ….. but keeping quiet on the particular point in question.
You can’t debate, you’re just a propagator of the Party line…the irony being you don’t realise just how much it shows ..oh dear.

I will not defend the Labour Party nor Starmer, he is a laughing assassin as I have said many times if you care to look back through the topics but your to idle to do so and just spout of the first thing that comes to mind

Aye, it’s Rachel from Accounts tomorrow with the budget that isn’t a budget
I bet we’ll be poorer off though by tea time, probably VAT on orphans, a swingeing tax on haircuts that aren’t like Starmer Giles and to top it off a cunning plan to stop the cross channel outboard powered condom boats..VAT on their life jackets to be levied as they land…..the gangs will be trembling…

Well Snowy you have only your beloved Tory government to thank for that, 14 years and trillions in debt, their friends making millions from faulty PPE.
Reeves is frightened to death to impose any tax on the wealthy no idea why, isn’t that what old Labour used to do ?

I like terriers.
Please note I said…’like a Terrier’ ..I would never dream of comparing you to a terrier under any circumstance’s whatsoever, as I respect terriers far too much.

Who mentioned playing with you Leggie, ok I do play with you but only in the verbal way, it’s so easy to wind you up, keeps me entertained for a few minutes a couple of times a day.
Your entertainment is obviously The Bunker, Leggie, currently 14 topics running on the 1st page and umpteen replies to topics most of them non sensical apart from the one about your Mother which I sympathise with you about.

have not a clue on what good or bad they have done for me. guess more than eating fruit and undercooked veg have as partaking of them does not give me bad indegestion every time. if it knocks a few years off me being in a care home then bring it on.

I always remember my old man saying when beer got to £2 a pint. " It took thousands of years to get to a £1 a pint, and 5 years to get to £2. We laughed at the time, we're not laughing now.

We must rob the twins to go to " Our Kevs " end of season promotion / failure V.I.P party. rakxe I haven't got the balls to tell him it's way above what I can afford especially now the beer prices have shoot up. banghead But me and Mutters have a cunning plan to ease the cost of this drink fuelled mad drinks trip. Mutters will keep the twins busy telling them Starmer is the future etc While the twins bite and hit back with " We want Farage 's babies etc " I will help myself to a few hundred quid from their coats. They won't even notice because both are buckled both love a argument ( like Mutters does. ) and both will drink until they drop. Me n my mate Mutters are no ones fools trust me. therethere rolf

with landlords laughing the least. normally things go up to a maximum where the maximum numbers will stay pay. feel its gone well past that even with inflation as a factor. however i doubt beer sales will have dropped that much with whats still sold in supermarkets

It's complicated now, with different tiers of drinking nowadays, according to incomes. There are those who can afford to drink in real ale pubs, micro pubs and trendy micro bars, chain bars etc, then those who drink nowhere but Spoons, those who drink in pubs with no cask beer, but the poor quality drinks they serve, tend to be cheaper, such as Fosters/John Smiths etc. Then there are the group that only drink at home, cheap supermarket beer or from the man with the van, who'll drop it off at your door for you. Also some of the beer you'll pay 5 or 6 quid for in the pub, you can get in the supermarket for 2 or 3 quid, even less if you drink say Aldi or LIDL rip off Madri or Stella, which IMO is actually no worse than the real thing, even better in some cases. Morrisons have a 3 bottles of real ale for £7 which is great value, some of the beer is bottle conditioned, even better.

This whole situation is sad, as the pub used to be where all sorts of people on all sorts of incomes used to drink together, now its a case of never the twain shall meet, and that is bad for society, as exchange of views and good rubbing off on bad etc is good for society. If you drink in a pub frequented by the same type of people, then you'll become that same type of person, mixing with people with different views is good and what made the British pub special. There were always other rooms you could go in, if there were people you didn't really get on with in the pub.

to some extent its always been like that. boozers pubs full of single older blokes knocking it back. town centre ones with mostly under 21,s in and music blareing out. then snobbery came into it where women would not go into certain types of pub and the actual beer snobs themselves. only drinking something called real ale and pumped from a hand pump. then the rise of lager with so many varieties available where none were of my taste. pubs serving food instead of just chrisps, sandwiches etc. might also put off the drinkers themselves where in many places you are in the same room as a family and have to watch your voice a bit. new clients come in but the old ones leave for many reasons and not all down to money either.
