Will need a change of attitude on recent attempts in this competition to be looking at any games in it next year!

know the seasons not over in the league but realistically this competition might be the best chance we,ll get to make something out of it especially with favourable draws. very rarely do you see two top sides getting into the final.

I'm desperate, as we all are- for a day out watching Pools at Wembley.

These are one off games, so with a bit of luck and some favourable draws- we've got to play our best team each game and give it 100% commitment. Plus if you do win it- it's an absolute beast of a trophy.

The memory of the stream of buses leaving the town at 5 in the morning, when we went to Cardiff for the playoff final, still gives me a warm glow, almost 20 years later.

Reckon we'd at least double the 17k that travelled that day- for what would be a once in a lifetime occasion. Watching OUR club representing OUR town at the National Stadium would be just mind blowing! Winning would be a bonus- like all Pools
away days!

Come On Pools- let's have it! rolf

It's my birthday the weekend of the final- and that would be THE best present, watching Pools under 'The Arch'- (second only to my youngest son sharing a birthday with me, he'll be 10).

God I can still remember that early morning walk down the town to pick up the coaches…four of us left the house at about three and as you got closer the more people joined you till we reached the Burn Valley roundabout and the full enormity hit you as a stream of humanity rolled along York Road and got even busier in the dark half light along with the hum of people half excited and half amazed at the throng…. as it turned into a bubbling sea of people as you turned into Victoria Road…….the ease with which you boarded the lines of waiting coaches was admirable as they moved up to fill up and be away to find yourself on the road to an actual final as dawn broke..
Pity it wasn’t Wembley, but on reflection it never bothered me one bit.
Referee’s ……. banghead

a lot more low key for me leaving norfolk with my lad and his mate who hated sheffield wed. with a passion. the only thing that spoiled the day was the end result that my lad forcasted saying they,d never allow us in the second tier at the expense of them. must have known the ref.

I went to Cardiff on a full coach of exiled Poolies from Enfield and despite the final result a good time was had by all.

It'll be just our luck to be drawn away against the winners of tomorrow's FA Trophy tie between Torquay United and Truro City.

I'm backing Askey's men to win that one...

Coming back from Cardiff we pulled up opposite loons to get off and as we were about to get off some pissheads thought it appropriate to start taking the piss…there was four blokes behind us with what I presumed ( I could be wrong) were South African accents and they decided they had a desire to be off the bus first to indulge in reasoned debate with them.

Three of us flew to Bristol then train to Cardiff. Had some time to kill after the match so went for a pizza. Wendies on the next table said they'd given up on the game till the ref's late intervention and wished us better luck next time. I said that was the difference between the two clubs. For them there would definitely have been be a next time... banghead

Remember when darlo won it, consensus was basically one of pity and thank god we don’t have that. To be excited about….shows how far this proud club has fallen

better not as the league season is realistically over and we need something else to keep our interest alive over the coming months. my old man used to say that you have to reach rock bottom in life for it to change. we have not quite reached that yet but a home defeat by darlo would be getting close to it. i could even take that if it was a catalyst for real change and long term improvement but somehow i doubt it.

Its quite possible that the current Pools side, still in transition from the car crash that was Sarll’s regime, could lose to one of those small clubs if drawn against them. However I think a Stockton vs Darlington tie would be most appropriate ahead of next years S&D 200 celebrations- with Stockton progressing of course.

actually could see stockton winning this. they,ll be playing out of their skins unlike oldham who might rest a number of players they will not. every season lower ranked sides overcome nat.league opponents as they take the competition more seriously.

Plastic pitch home advantage as well.
Could well see them progressing and upping there support as Boros prices are getting towards £40 for the main stand n £34 for other areas.

or double that if they eventually reach the holy grail of the premier league where they,d struggle like they always did in the top flight.

League on the back burner.

I'm expecting a win on Saturday and then surely if we going up it's our last chance to win this competition.

2 visits to Wembley then and 2 wins.

Ellish my ambition levels.

Tamworth beating Burton at the weekend will have them on cloud 9 and they must have played their hearts out to finish the game with penalties. Hope they dont take that fortune into Saturday - if we can play football and make the changes quicker - get Mancini either starting or coming on earlier and we should win this game. Mani D due a goal aswell !

Tamworth have beaten two league 1 clubs already this season, I don’t think Pools will have them shaking in their boots. On the other hand we have beaten them once already.

i,d rather be playing them after their cup exploits especially if they get a really plum draw in the 3rd round. know its a month away but no matter what their manager says it must be on their minds. lot might depend on the teams put out by both clubs and how seriously they,ll take the competition.

Think Lenny will make some changes for this tie, Dodds back in Bondswell posssibly. Mancini, Madine and Lua lua should start, they all need game time I think.

Agree- I'd give Mathurin a start as well - the way things are going with him Palace are never going to loan us another player, and it's not as if he's rubbish! And start Billy Sass-Davies!

For me the play-offs have to be the Number 1 priority - I'd much rather be at Wembley for the play-off final than for a non-league trophy! Either Pools have got a strong squad or they haven't - make changes for the start of the game and pack the bench with the likes of Mani D, Joe Grey, Charman and Ferguson. They'd all benefit from a breather.
