Obviously short as we expected---anyone know who Charlie Berry is from the academy, plus this new Derby lad as cover.

Hopefully Slogget available for some of next week given we have 2 games in 3 days

Come on lads lets get the 3 points and 4 days rest!

I said over and over and over again end of last season Feathers will be important to us being successful even if only used for part games and I got hammered. We now have Featherstone / Waterfall / Parkes
Campbell / Dixon / Madine / Mani D & Freeman all have achieved promotion. They will all play a vital role this season.

be interesting as well to see if they have players out injured. be a footballing miracle if they could play their preferred starting 11 3 games on the trot.

pitch is a joke-

Just hoof ball from both sides--good chance for us the one time we got it down, but overall quality of game is dire

Saying it now whiles its -0-0 these pitches need to be banned--just bounce like crazy and hard to control

We are playing into tamworth hands just hoofing it as well

Mani D having a shocker--winning nothing in air, struggling as they all are with the bouce and needlessly booked---hopefully he knocks one in now ...

horrible half
Cant understate what a factor the pitch is--their players clearly more used to how ball bounces etc

Positives is we have stood up to them well--especially Hunter
Negatives--we cant get hold of or control the ball and our press isn't working the same way

Game is a lottery though could end 1-0 either way with a horrible goal---we may come unstuck with not having anyone to put on in attack to change things

Bit like the first two games. Hardly strong a pass together. Lets hope we nick one.

It's another game where he's getting next to no service from out wide and Pools main tactic is long balls from the back. That stuff doesn't do centre forwards any favours at all.

Horrible pitch to play football on, so I'll reserve judgement till the final whistle. Come on Pools!

Maybe not because we had a half with 10 men and it was hard work on the players.

Agree a poor game on an awful plastic pitch, Pools struggling to get any control of the ball. Tamworth put some dangerous corners in, Fergusons delivery from corners and free kicks has been abysmal. Could go either way this game.

Not sure how much that matters when Tamworth still have half a team of fresh subs to bring on.

yes and we are obviously short - Feather doing well when foot on the ball but limits our press--reserving being too critical due to the pitch--its affecting everyone no confidence to go for it with the bounce---Parkes and Hunter our best players--Ferguson delivery shocking and Sheron is good until he actually has to kick a ball

just wish fergy would get further up field and get some crosses in out on the left. nothing much happening on that side going forward.

It’s one thing playing it forward into an area to turn the game but it needs to go to feet when the opportunity is there. Had chances and their defence looks poor so need to show more composure.

Mancini on for Campbell. Is it Mancini's type of game? Erratic bounce, plastic pitch etc. We'll see.

Sounds like we did that the hard lucky way.
Onwards n Upwards.
A good fixture to get out of the way.
UTP.
260 odd Poolies.
Quality n Quantity as usual.

have that !

Hope we never have to go there again--awful pitch and awful football

On balance we were a little lucky BUT we deserve credit for standing up to them the way we did

Parkes MoM
Stephenson did well against a hard opponent
Mani D much better 2nd galf

All the rest deserve credit for the shift they put in.....Mancini the one player who looked like he could control a ball on that pitch and a couple of moments of genuine quality swung the game our way over a 10 minute spell and we got the goal

Rode our luck, and Tamworth despite the pitch are shite but cant complain about the result

Disagree he has been back to his best this season. Tonight was not his best game but who apart from sass and Joe played well. About time these plastic shit pitches are banned forever.

I thought Joe was fairly poor until the goal-albeit pitch is a factor--they absolutely need banning at this level.
Hunter was up for the battle--and Dixon deserves credit as well for doing what he had to do.

A really hard slog that. Defended really well on an awful pitch. Mancini made a difference when he came on, made a couple of opportunities and looked a different class at times. Joe took his goal well, all in all a very pleasing result.

This. His delivery was off but his overall play is way better than last season. Mancini turned the game when he came on - don't care whether he starts or not as long as he does the business. Large slice of luck at the death but Pools are bloody hard to make chances against at the minute. Credit to the keeper too.

Just a bit concened for Mani D - he will probably hit form sooner rather than later but he needs more service to be at his best. Looks as if he will do well to get 13 goals never mind 23 at the minute.

Agree with the Mancini comments, his movement and some deft touches made the difference. Grey looked our best player throughout but so disjointed. We hunt the ball down well in pairs - great to see - but we just lacked composure. It’s something to build on though and undeniably a great start to the season.

That's what is good about football forums we often have a different opinions which is fine by me. I made Joe M.O.M closely followed by Sass and Parksy. Mancini did really well and caused problems with his movement, looks to be getting back to being " The Machine Mancini "

It's definitely a hard watch. But 3 clean sheets, 2 away wins, unbeaten with 7 points from 3 games is a good start.
Mancini and Grey seemed to be the only players able to control the ball although the pitch was abysmal and shouldn't be allowed at thus level.
Hopefully a better watch at home on Saturday but the result is all important.

Medieval football wins this evening. Points mean prizes.

Agree re Mani D - hope we do develop a bit more football about us, at least when we get it in their half. We have the players to do it. 3 games of hoofball and yes effective hoofball - but some bigger tests to come. Lots of improvements - especially defensively - but we can definitely grow in to the season with a style that shows we can do both. Don’t shoot me down - just an observation on the playing style. Big fan of other areas of DS’ Pools but key thing is he has big Mani D - fresh off 20+ goal season - in his ranks. Needs to find a way to get him facing the goal again and on the end of balls in and through balls. Constantly with his back to goal and we’re not going to see the best of him.

On to Saturday - a team we can definitely take the game to.

With the attacking players we have now we should be creating more chances than we are. Sarll I'm sure is working on it because we need Mani on the end of things.

Okay then, Snowy.

For anybody else who actually fancies discussing the game. My point isn’t disregarding the start. Out of possession is a huge improvement. I think we could be quality if within possession we could tighten up a bit and play a little bit more to our best players strengths.

With the attacking players we have now we should be creating more chances than we are. Sarll I'm sure is working on it because we need Mani on the end of things.

On to Saturday - a team we can definitely take the game to.

We are a working progress we have new management new players new style and still 7 points and zero goals against WOW that is some turnaround try to enjoy it and don't fret the goals and more football will come with a fully fit squad and the confidence we are gaining game by game. We have Mancini Doddsy Waterfall Sloggett & Madine all would be first teamers if not for injuries and suspensions. And guess what we keep on going from strength to strength. Every single player D.S. signed so far are quality as I keep saying the man is no mug trust him I think he is earning that respect and quickly.

Agreed Leggie , good debate and footy patter.

Bit of a footy stats nerd so it’s interesting comparing season on season pass completion stats for instance. Pools have dropped right off. Why I’m saying out of possession fantastic, tighten up and ensure we get those chances to Mani D and we’ve got a chance this year.
