That Grimsby are interested in Josh Umerah. That's not what caused me to raise an eyebrow.

It was followed by the quote "Hartlepool released him to help reduce the clubs wage bill".

Not what you want to hear when your expecting serious investment in the team for the coming season.

Reduce the wage bill to bring in new players? I'm not reading that as a bad thing

Yeh this seems like a red herring/trying to big him up for
Grimsby
He was released because he was injured half the season and took a step backwards, plus we have a couple of more effective forwards

Yep, that is the more down to earth perspective. He was not the player he was and we are well shot of him. Maybe he will have a new lease of life with a new club, who knows.

Or Grimsby trying to justify it to the fans?
Their memory will be his goal against him with the fans saying why don’t we have a player like that, as fans do.

He was rumoured to be our top earner - i know alot thought it was Hastie and Cooke but he seemed to trigger something with his goal haul in the league. If he can pull off a move to a League club then his agent deserves a knighthood !

he spat his dummy out - didnt look interested and 3 managers even seen it with him hence why he didnt feature hardly. good riddance.

get us Blackett from SS thats all im saying !

I commented on twitter regarding that post, I said he's left because he's constantly injured and barely played for a year now. He described Josh as strong and explosive, two things he certainly is not. His control is shocking, constantly falls on his arse, can't win a header, rarely looked interested and can't pass or shoot without scuffing it. I'd be amazed if he got a move to EFL.

he would have been a decent signing though in the january transfer window in 2023. feel he was worth more than he is now where he would be a bigger gamble for any league club.

Recruiting German stormtroopers is never the answer…where’s the first ‘friendly’…? Poland…?

You are most certainly right but imagine the furore if we had let him go then, unless the fee was acceptable to our resident doomers and Raj haters.
