Driving down the headland first thing this morning and some of the Christmas decorations were already up.
A big display declared. ….’WINTERTIDE FESTIVAL’….what’s up with Christmas…?
Who are they trying to avoid offending Scrooge or some passing atheist…?

Inclusivity means celebrating everyone's festivals not celebrating nobody's. Let's have Christmas and Diwali and Eid and Easter and any other ones that we can partake in.

Sometimes ideas like that are just hopeless attempts to be distinctive. 'Wintertide!" Like Nationwide BS spending a fortune on a rebrand that's just a rip off of NatWest.

In defence of the Council…. maybe it was for their ‘Whitsuntide Festival’ and they’re just good old fashioned registered illiterates? :laugh:

In defence of the Council…. maybe it was for their ‘Whitsuntide Festival’ and they’re just good old fashioned registered illiterates? :laugh:

There used to be some very good Nativity Scenes built in the shopping centre at Christmas but it was stopped as the Council thought it might offend some people !
The reason behind the celebration of Christmas is because it’s a religious festival when Jesus was born. I believe schools stopped the Nativity play at Christmas for similar reasons.
The next thing Remembrance Day will be cancelled as it also might offend some people.

i,m yet to meet anyone of another religeon who are offended by any of the above and thir kids join in with the ones who do it like their white mates do. same with hindu and other religeous festivals others have. if they actually were offended it would bother me less than the present attitude of schools and councils who are jumping the gun on this without any real facts to back them up. its as if they want trouble and put things between diffeerent races that do not actually exist.
