Complete horseshit- made up bollox that nobody can verify at the time of writing. End of the day players only worth what the buyer is prepared to pay- so couldn't possibly know that until maybe 5 years time once all the players have shuffled off to their next club and even then some will be undisclosed fees.
.
He may well be on the piss as last I heard he was banned from the Vic

I think we would struggle to realise a third of that figure, obviously just ill-informed twaddle as usual

The Mail is as good as dead.
Enjoyed the Football Mail years ago.
Haven't got a clue who the top players are now in the Hpool sunday morning league.
Any future youngsters capable of playing for Pools??

The only thing Hartlepool Mail is the title on the front of it.
It’s not local anymore and it’s blatantly obvious, you can’t have your finger on the pulse with a once week paper on a Thursday, because it’s the worst day of the week to be reporting on football, so you create these nonsensical features to spark something of interest, but always falls flat on it’s face.

They must have got the prices off Championship Manager, talk about investigative journalism. Paul Foot would be so proud…

Bring back Chipper!

That was more entertaining - and there was a secret sign for those in the fan club!

Not Paul Frost?

Neville Wanless was my personal favourite back in the day!

My number was 798 and a friend of mine at the time was number 2............but his uncle was actually Uncle George.

Chipster 18047 at your service. Only ever got one Merit Card for a letter I wrote, whereas me sister got three the jammy bastard. Can't remember what three cards entitled you to, but it was something crap like free entry to the Super Saturday Show at the Odeon.

As I got older, I always hoped that Uncle George would be revealed as the alchy who hung around the bus station cafe, and that the secret sign would turn out to be British Sign Language for some perverse sexual practice.

Happy days.

My Dad called him Neville Gormless……it seemed everyone of his appearances revealed his poverty of personality…if you were with him in a lifeboat and starving there’d be no arguments against him being eaten first.

Neville was a housewife's favourite - much more classy than the odious spiv, Bill Steel.

My Gran loved Neville Wanless-
mainly because he always gave a mention to Widow's and people on their own (my Gran having been a long time widowed) on the late night closure.

He loved a Christmas jumper all year round too- he had some absolute belters!

I do miss those classic Transmission announcements -

'Brought to you by Pontop Pike, Bilsdale and Associated transmitters!' clappp

Have to admit given the choice - it would be Pontop Pike, everyday for me - rather than that Yorkshire filth!
