See Marcus Dinanga is their main goal threat. He's bulked up a fair bit since he was on loan at Pools in 2018. Wonder if he'll keep up the record of ex-Poolies scoring against us started by Kabamba last week?

Kenton Richardson and Carl Magnay also with them.

Very early days for predictions without any kind of form book to consider with the current crop of players, but judging by the defending I witnessed last Saturday, I am pretty sure Gateshead will score so I am going with the 2-2.

Assume team will be the same with exception of Mani D for Wreh if his suspension is done

We really have no options on the bench to change anything, having Wallace fit will help but desperately need a few more in.

Odd comment, as nobody has actually tipped Gateshead to win. Hope Magnay plays for them - he was shite 5 years ago!

They have lost their best CM to injury last week - Magnay went in for him and they went to shite so i was told

Adam Campbell their other goal threat has also departed for Crawley

we should be battering these - but they had a fairly alright pre season and where winning a good team in BW last week.

above us in the table <<< means feck all at this stage tbh

Probably gift them some shite goal - might go with a draw for me

1-1 Umerah

I thought that too- apart from the worldie he scored at Barra, he was pretty ordinary for us.
Though to be fair is was in the same team as Batman and Robin a living (Scott Harrison and Louis Laing)!

Thought one of the main reasons he left Pools, was to go part time- as I remember it Pools offered him a contract (happy to be corrected)

if we score more than them we,ll win. if they score more than us we lose. score the same number and it will be a draw. not me that thought this up but were words used by an ex rochdale manager. yes he did get the sack eventually.

That's what you get for speaking the truth  No wonder so many managers waffle on with meaningless jargon about 'the group.' (Mind you, it sounds like that Rochdale gaffer was quoting direct from the collected works of Ron Knee, Football Manager).

Lacey and Mani D in the team. Pruti isn't on the bench, so quite likely he's injured.

Massive kick in the balls to Pruti if he isn’t injured

Burton and Patterson on bench seems a bit samey though keen to see Burton play.

Wreh’s outstanding off the ball display against Barnet not enough to save him from being benched !

1-0 Halftime

Positives, Mani O, Mancini and Seaman
Negatives Cooke who looks slow and is having a stinker

If we ever lose Askey we should make a massive effort to get Williamson--has Gateshead playing some great football with a clear plan--they will feel very unlucky to be behind while we will say we have defended well.

Crowd would be playng hell at the way we sitting off if we werent 1 up.

They have obviously been told to let Gateshead have it up to a point--we are defending well at the back but really arent able to press at all, Cooke is in genuine danger of being dropped once Wallace is fit...ir Askey brings someone in.

I do think you have to credit Gateshead though, not many clubs at this level play the way they are--especially with their resources, I suspect the Maidenhead game on Tuesday will look a lot different!

poor goal to concede

Ref been a tit since sending off--trying top prove hes not even-ing it up

Mancini reminds me a lot of Cullen when he played for pools in his ability to beat a man

We have absolutely nothing on the bench to change things up

Totally unnecessary on Umerah’s part. There’s one thing being ‘combative’, but that was pointless behaviour.

I thought we actually looked better with ten men. We were dreadful first half. Umerah was a red card waiting to happen, need to see the challenge again but the ref was clearly itching for a reason to send him off and he got one.

Definitely take the win in the circumstances.

Ratings

Dixon 6 not much to do really, doesn’t look any better on crosses than the last keeper

Seaman 7 did really well not sure why he got so much stick last week either
Ferguson 6 - steady
Mani O 8 really good player at this level, held defence together
Lacey 7 didn’t do much wrong
Dodds 7 as above

Crawford 7. Looks more physical than in prior years
Mancini 7 will get better and better, reminds me of Cullen
Cooke 6 was going to be a 4 or 5 before the assist, can play but so immobile, stupidly booked for dissent

Mani D 8 mom 2 goals , knows how to get into box
Umerah 3 didn’t do much and stupidly sent off, if he doesn’t want to be here let him go so we can replace

Bench :- scarily sparse as proven by us not putting a sub on, desperately need 3 more players

Defence looks solid but the the midfield not creating chances for the forwards. I thought Pools sat back to much inviting Gateshead on. But hey 3 points is 3 points, onwards and and upwards.

It was definitely one of those times when Pools played better after going a man down - though to be fair they had started the 2nd half well after a bollocking from the manager at half time.

The lack of any kind of press in the first half made me very worried - Gateshead were invited to mount attack after attack and the equaliser was overdue by the time it came. The only two players trying to get in the face of the Heed players were Mancini and Umerah - Josh a bit too enthusiastically! Cooke looked he was trying to cover 2 players at once all the time and never came near the ball.

The 10 men - including Cooke - did great. This was my first proper look at Mani D and Mancini and I was very impressed by both.

He give the tunnel a good kicking after red card.
Sing probably wishing he accepted one of those aledgedly offers from league clubs.
Looks unsellable now.
Anutha Sylla we can do without.
Still concerned about JAs interviews.
Sounds like hes on a different working level than the Macclesfield Chairman.

Heard JA's post-match comments on the drive home. He says there was no foul for the Umerah red but Josh had already marked the ref's card and the man in yellow fell for Tinkler's theatrics- it's true, Umerah should have been booked in the first half and paid the price with the questionable sending off. That said, the idea that he's not interested in playing for Pools and wanted to be sent off is for the birds. Askey was singing his praises only last week.

JA also said he made no substitutions before the end because the defence was doing well, Mani D was a threat and there's was no-one to bring on in midfield because we've only got 3 midfielders!

Makes you wonder what's going to happen on Tuesday night - there's no way Cooke will last another 90-100 minutes. Sounds like we'll be doing business for an out of contract player PDQ.

No way in a million years Josh is uninterested completely the opposite in my opinion. He seems a really genuine lad who always praises our supporters and whilst here will give 100%. He was wound up by that tosser tinkler he should not have reacted that way but we all human.

Pools don’t appear to do a pressing game, it’s 5 behind the ball, maybe we don’t have the the players to do that ?
What did impress me was neither of the 2 teams resorted to hoof football, Gateshead were quick on the break albeit we didn’t have anyone in midfield to stop them.

How we won that I don't know, but 3 points are massive to us. We spent 90 minutes trying to give Gateshead a confidence boost, by allowing them to pass the ball at will. You would of thought man united had turned up the amount of respect we gave them. Another great crowd of over 5k for conference footy.

Keeper is far better at coming for crosses than Calamity Killip!!
Askey says Josh never made contact with Tinkler who rolled around as if he'd broken his leg then quickly hopped up and got on with the game. If so, wonder if we'll appeal, and if the video shows blatant attempt by that twat Tinkler to get Josh sent off will he get a ban for bringing the game into disrepute? It's time these blatant cheats were found out and punished if they want to make the game a better spectator experience.
