Grafter but not enough end product. Can't see him getting a League side.

Jennings was only ever on loan - he left when the season ended. Fair enough that Pools tried to get him back, but I'll be surprised if he drops into the NL at all.

The silver lining is that one or two Bunker experts reckoned he wasn't good enough anyway  Sure his decision will have made their day.

Jennings wasn’t on loan - he was signed on a short term contract until the end of the season. We offered him a new contract to extend his deal, which he’s now obviously turned down.

Didn’t ever seem like he was going to resign after some things he posted after the season ended. Decent player who puts a good shift in but not exactly a prolific goal scorer we’d need.

He’s now nearly 32 and spent virtually all his career in the north west so I doubt he’ll move his family far from Manchester area. He will be looking at Oldham/Rochdale or even Fylde or altringham. Be most surprised if he gets FL club.

4 players were involved in ongoing discussions, Jennings, Killip and Boyes, the only one to decide now is Featherstone.

heard that it is them. wonder how happy we would be if we had finished in the top half of the league last season and signed someone like him. cannot see him starting many games or changing a game when he comes on. if he wants regular football i think our current level would be the best he could have hoped for.

again it shows the problem we have. him and others can have a long career with various clubs without ever having to move house.

How can the budget be better than DCs in covid if Jennings was offered a new deal.

All smells a bit Fishy to me. banghead

Kev, he was never gonna stay. Check his record, he’s a bit of a traveller at a host of clubs.
Cue… violin
He was booooorn under a wandering star,
He was boooorn under a wandering star,
Pools wanted to sign me,
But bags I had to pack,
I’ve never seen a club that didn’t look better looking back. :violin:
violin
Do you know where Hell is,
He’ll is in Hello,
Heaven is goodbye to all my club’s when it’s time to go,
Cos I was boooorn under a wandering ,
A wandering, wandering star. :violin:

So, a player described as a Tranmere legend opts to rejoin them in League Two and stay settled in his home area. Looks like a no brainer to most people. Looks 'Fishy' to the Bunker's resident conspiracy theorist. sctatchinghead

Think you both missing the point.
He should never of been offered a new contract
Not good enough.
Probably replaced by a cheap Carver type player.
No ambition as the ST sales show.
No interest in what Tranmere opinion of him is.
Must be there version of Stevie Howard.

He may well be, but a league club who knows him inside out, wanted to sign him.
Plus it’s close to home, no brainer.

He was stockports 4th choice striker, if we had the remotest of ambition last season, we would never of even signed him, we needed goals to the team at the time, No doubting he did well, compared to the rest of the squad but we need better, the only problem we now have is, his replacement will no doubt be a downgrade on him. If we can even be arsed to replace him.

So who's next were going to sneak out the door we have way too many players, what is it 15? A midfield consisting of a lad that didn't wanna play for us dolan who couldn't get a game for us, Featherstone who's not sure if he can put up with this shit any longer, a forward line where our forward appear to down tools cos other clubs were interested and a young lad who's been with us for a few years but doesn't seem to be improving. Then we have a few lads we don't even want here. What an utter shambles.

Too many players, maybe too many not good enough, you need a squad of around 20 players.

things are just the same whether jennings re signed or not. finding someone as good as he was will be quite easy. its an improvement on him and anyone else that could be a problem. again there is still plenty of time to go before we really need to get the cut throat razor out.

Plenty of time if you want the remnants of the cast offs. We should be forward thinking like Scunthorpe who have been dreadful for 2seasons, they have thought enough is enough, we're going to put a squad together now of the best players for that division. We just plodthrough pre season not for the first time, its not a one off. Season ticket early bird prices finish in 8 days what on earth have we done to even encourage anyone to buy them?

we could discuss this in a pub with the rest who post for hours and never get an answer. everything is so secret nowadays regarding signings. does anyone think JA is just sunning himself in the back garden while the club is going to rot. no news can be good news at the moment and i,d hate us to splash the budget on a name player just to sell a few more season tickets with underwhelming signings to follow. season ticket money is handy but so is the money taken on matchdays if by luck we do assemble a side that wins home games and are pleasing on the eye. on top of that is fans different expectations for the season. there will be different ones from topping the league to avoiding relegation with most stuck somewhere inbetween. at the moment we are not talking about remnants signing but i,ll go with you if that happened a few days before our first game unless there is a good reason for it happening.

Half the clubs in this league will be already fairly pleased with what they have from last season, the chesterfields etc aren't far away already from a team readyto go and win the league. We are in a total different position to most these teams, because we were an utter shambles last season, so for us we're probobly in the category of needing wholesale changes now. We need to see some sort movement to show us we actually want to do well.

Titles and relegations are never decided by the 21st June. We don't know what's going on wrt comings and goings and have to have faith that JA will get what he wants to build a decent squad.
To be fair there's been very little transfer activity at any level yet.

You're right they are not won then but very few teams win out by leaving everything to the last minute and bulk buying when there is little left.

I think we are in need of a recap here. Raj has put the club up for sale because, as he puts it, that's what the fans have asked him to do. He has agreed to do that and has also stated two important commitments. First that he intends to make sure that the buyers are genuine and secondly that he will keep the club ticking over. Keeping the club ticking over doesn't mean building a promotion team. He is keeping the car roadworthy, not exchanging it for something better. All the doom mongers who are shouting the loudest for team improvements, funded by an owner who they have incessantly criticised for not spending enough, are living in cloud cuckoo land if they think that Raj is going to put more funds than are necessary into a club whose fans want him gone.
Anyone with half a brain looking on at this could be forgiven if they accused the doom mongers of driving the club into administration.
We all want a bit of success. We all want a decent squad. We all want a speedy return to the EFL. Does anybody think that, by continuously slating the club and it's owners, we are going to achieve those wants. More like we'll create a lot more wants with that sort of behaviour.
For at least two seasons now every criticism known to man has been hurled at the Chairman. Let's say that it is all justified. The result is he is going. So why does anybody suddenly think he is going to relax or change his financial beliefs as he goes through the door. The big concern has got to be WILL HE PADLOCK IT ON THE WAY OUT??????

ever thought that JA has his hands tied by being told to ship out those who do not want to play for the club and those we all see as not good enough first. thats even quieter than the incomings. we still have umerah on the books who most feel has played his last game for us anyway and the deadwood have not been moved on or will they actually be. thought everyone still under contract and released are still being paid until the end of the month.

If I was in that position, in all honesty I’d walk away and put two fingers up…followed by a ‘F#%k right off’. for good measure.
Then I’d put my keys through the letterbox and say … ‘here , you have a go’… …such a pity all those with the answers are busy cutting hair or driving taxi’s.

So its now the fans fault? Think we need a proper recap. This guy had a massive opportunity to do something with this club. Promotion lead to crowds of 5500 to 6000 on fairly regular basis. What did he do with this nothing. Run it on the bare bones, taking forever to appoint managers, bringing in managers who even at the time most were shocked with. The club being ran where no one seems to want to stay for more than a year, even physios don't want to stay. Had 12 months last season to do something about an obvious demise. What did he do? Very little. Put the prices up to one of the highest in the league, ran the club like a conference north side. Let's stop being scared of him throwing his toys out the pram hey. He did that at darlo so why does he need an excuse here. If he doesn't want to be questioned he shouldn't of lied about play off budgets, told us no one had put a bid when it now appears a bid was put in for the club unless stellin was lying. Tells us this season oh we have a competitive budget again yet once again little happens. Let's not believe everything he says, of course he is going to say what we all want to hear. You call us doomongers but then end up saying the big concern is he will padlock the doors. If we do a Scunthorpe he might as well padlock the doors because we're only heading one direction with this guy anywhere near the club.

Where do I say it is the fans fault??? I stopped reading at that point so can't answer the rest of it.

Do you actually believe that he set out to fail and get the club relegated again?
At the moment he's said he's selling, he's said he'll only sell to buyers with the clubs best interests at heart, he's said that he would back JA, so which if those are false. Just because we haven't signed many players yet doesn't mean a thing.

Exactly.

If I suddenly came across a vast amount of money I would think long and hard about buying the club and putting myself in that position simply because unless I was investing heavily on a regular basis the day would come where some people would class it as not enough. Why would anyone want to put themselves in that sort of firing line.
Hero to Zero in a flash.

Steady on old chap.

There's too much logic in that post for the doom mongers to comprehend. You'll have to go a bit slower.

I don't actually believe he set out to fail, I believe he set out to spend as little as possible and hope to stay up.
He said we had a play off budget last year. That was false anyone with half abrain knows it wasn't a play off budget, he said he was holding budget back after challinor? Well where was it then Mr Singh? Considering we got to Palace in 4th round and a semi final on top of that, I'd say that was false, he says he will back ja yeah once he sells everyone, like he has for last couple of years.

There's quite a few supposedly in the know websites that claim our budget last season was on a par with Carlisle so if true then we did have a play off capable budget (by the way what is a play off budget). There's no reason to doubt these assertions given the number of players we had on the books I er the course of the season ( I certainly can't remember us having so many, and didn't Curle bring in 12 or so with out of contract and January window signings) and some of the reported wages we've been paying for shite players.
It's easy to blame the budget not being enough when none of us actually know what our budget was, surely the amount of money is not the key factor anyway, it's how you spend it that counts, and we totally blew whatever we had on players not good enough.

If we had any sort of half decent budget why did we start pre season with 8 players then kick off the season without enough subs? Just doesn't make sense. Or did we spend it all on national league players and Scottish 1st division players? If we're spending on par with carlisle etc why can't we pick up league 2 players on a regular basis? Why were we continually shopping for kids on loan, national league players or below and the dogand duck league in Scotland.

What I said was thats how it could appear to an outsider. In fact an outsider who supports another club but reads this forum because of me has actually said it. I actually described you as a life long fan, He retorted it's about time he came across like that then.
That's the impression you are putting across to people who don't know you. I'm just repeating the effect you're having.

If this, if that, if the other. The fact is you, like the rest of us don't have a clue what is going on, what the budget is or why players aren't queuing up to join us. It is just guesswork which you repeat ad nauseam.
I'm not interested in guesswork, especially when it is used to attack the club or it's policy.
Take a hammer to your piggy bank and replace Raj and then you can show us how its done.
That's why I don't jump on the club and/or it's owner at every turn, because I can't replace him either.
He is what he is and the club are where they are but you have to realise and understand the simple fact that, until he is replaced, he is all we've got. I don't mean replacing him with administration either but you appear to with your unrelentless attacks him and the club.
If you want unlimited funds, great facilities and very rich owners get on the train to Newcastle where the fairytale is being enacted but it is fair to ask how long will that even last.

It's not rocket science really, if Carlisle spent say £1.5m on a squad of 24 players of the quality required to build a challenging team, we could easily have matched that on what was it 36 or so players over the course of a season and 2anagers and their teams to pay off. I'm sure Raj didn't put the valuations on the overpaid garbage we signed.

Managers get you relegated.
The former owner of Derby County spent a fortune of his own money on the team and despite that the team was crap…..yet even though the massive amount he put in failed to do the business, the fans blamed him.
Funny old game football

Excellent assessment of why we are were we are now Billy.
Struggling to see how you getting a bit of beef.

As for this buisness of a excellent Promotion budget for JA.
Results will define that.

If its that good isent it time to start bringing them in to get the ST sales up.
Early Bird leaves the nest soon.
Opinions always welcome.
