We need rid of a few as well: Njoli, Hastie, Paterson and still no news on Umerah and Sylla. After all the speculation, I would have thought those two would have been long gone by now since they both good players unlike the first three.

Notts County have signed McGoldrick from Derby, 22 goals last season. Turned Derby down for financial reasons, goodness knows what Notts are paying.
If this was Pools (eg Oates, Armstrong etc) some on here would be saying they should have offered more money to keep him.

He said in his statement that he turned down offers of more money and in a higher division to sign for Notts as they are his boyhood club, so I’m not sure they outbid Derby.

I bet they will still be paying him a big wedge though…

Why on earth would we of wanted to pay them more money? When you can simply get relegated and cost yourself probobly about a million pound. For the sake of 100 k max better just have a poor team instead, yet fans believe hastie is on huge wages.

If and its a big if anyway keeping those two would probobly have got us in the play offs in front of average gates of 5500 to 6000. Last year we were garbage and got 4500. That's 1000 fans at say 15 quid a pop for 23 matches. Sometimes spending is a way of saving.

He has obviously taken a big cut to see out his career, fair play to him. It will still be wages we could only ever dream of paying and probobly 95 percent of clubs in that league.

I dont recall any footballer ever saying "I am going to this club because they are paying me more money." There is always some half truth or or downright fabrication told to make the move more palatable for the fans he is leaving. Didnt Challinor say he was going to Stockport because it was closer to home?

Challinor said what he was first offered was derograty. He was always going to go for more money. If sunderland came in for him he wouldn't give two hoots about moving.

I would bet a pound to a piece of chicken shit that Challinor was offered an increase, so if that increase was derogatory, what did he describe the wage he was on before the new negotiations started. A contract that he was willing to accept to leave home and come to Pools for. If DC thought that getting the club back to the EFL was worth a significant raise, why didn't he negotiate that clause into his contract BEFORE crossing the Pennines. According to Raj DC was touting himself to other clubs who decided not to take him on. It was then and only then that a three year deal was struck. A three year deal that lasted a few short weeks. Raj took a chance on him, gave him the job, backed him in player recruitment and then, when we got promoted, offered him a three year deal. which DC accepted. Raj didn't have to fight off a host of clubs to get DC, he plucked him from the dole queue. I think a bit of balancing wouldn't go amiss here.

You started off badly with this and you completely lost me with the "according to Raj" bit.

McGoldrick actually states he has moved for financial reasons. As for KPG you make it sound so easy why does every team work like that. Even with the extra gate I doubt we could afford the extra that these players were wanting. I very much doubt Pools will be able to average 5500 over the season whereas Notts are quite a bigger team.Of course some will say “get your hand in your pocket Raj”

It may not be money with McGoldrick, he always said he wanted to finish his career with Notts County as thats where he started off

Agree with Mr Derwent

We all know that Raj has got stuff wrong, given how things have played out, however after DC finally agreed and signed the 3 year contract - to then walk away a matter of weeks later was really poor on his part, and left a big stain on his integrity/ legacy for me. Raj had also let him bring in Clint Hill for what turned out to be a bizarre few weeks.

I was at the Orient away game (DC's last match when we were lucky to get nil in a 5 nil mauling) and on reflection the players must have known he was off which is why they stayed on the bus! It's also the first and only game I've ever witnessed with THREE halves - Ref decided in his wisdom that the first half was 7 mins too short, so when they came back out - they played that, he then blew the whistle and the teams changed ends for the 3rd half - and so started the shitshow!

even a full vic week in week out would be far lower a gate than some at our old level would get on a wet tuesday night in december. the club is where it is at the moment and should be run this way and not a gamble of if we sign so and so it could add X number of fans in. if only things were as easy as that every club would be a success.

So saying "according to" is a slight on one's credibility ????? or maybe you mean the fact that the name Raj follows it. sctatchinghead.

Mcgoldrick he has left for financial reasons? What from Derby to notts county? Are you sure on that? It's his boyhood team. Why can't we average 5500 as a play off promoted team? When we can average 4600 as a team that was basically in the relegation zone all season.

Way too early for that sort of thing. We haven't had a statement yet to tell us things are progressing well and something should be done in the next week or so. We like to save on wages during June so give it another 2 weeks before they roll in.

doubt the other 23 clubs have done much transfer work either apart from possible verbal deals that will be made official come july. there seem to be far less rumours and news coming out than there once was at all clubs. one thing that is we,ll be the last to know anything.

What about the possibility that the EFL have asked Pools to prepare for an invitation to join league two as the Wigan scenario unfolds. Can't say anymore yet.

What about the possibility that the EFL have asked Pools to prepare for an invitation to join league two as the Wigan scenario unfolds. Can't say anymore yet.

Have a job they were taken over yesterday,

even if they hadn,t and wigan had done a bury they,d play in a league of 23 teams with one less team relegated at the end of the season.

If we want to have a go at winning the league I suggest we get our fingers out and quick, if chesterfields rumoured signings come off next week.

i,d rather have no signings than hopes of rumoured interest in players that build up our hopes only to be dashed a few days later. be great to splash all the budget now and find out a player JA would have loved to sign more than anyone else refusing offers from clubs because they want to move back to the NE. like buying the first used car that comes up to find the one you really want coming up the week after. can understand fans getting impatiant after last summer but that was a different situation. a bit more patiance at the moment is needed without burrying her heads in the sand yet.

We are way short of it physically still, the fact we have the likes of Murray, Lacey, Dolan, Cooke and Feather all potentially on the books at yeh start of the season is frightening…we can have one or maybe 2 in the squad compensated for by more athletic players but we’d be better off starting a walking football team if we keep
Them all

National League is weakest it’s been in years, ripe for a real dog shot club like solihull or Boreham Wood to win it, though expect Cheaterfield will be favorites

Gateshead my dark horse

Lacey won the title with Luton and Got to playoffs with Notts County.
Cooke will be very skillful in the National League next season, if we can keep him.
Dolan will be a good replacement for Featherstone.

Murray improved under JA, but a hell of along way off NL standard.

do not think its any weaker than it ever is. Its just there are no stand out clubs and its very equal. agree its a good chance of league 2 getting a couple of new teams on their fixture list that nobody wants to see. like you said the name of a car factory and a film studio.

He got binned off out of our very poor team last season, so what on earth are we doing even keeping him. Tells me we are going to scrape the barrel once again when we do things like that.
