Jamie sterry on his way to some footballing giants in the national North. Oh and Pools to sign someone who has scored 5 goals in 10 years who all Pools fans will rave about when we sign him.

Jamie Sterry is probably my favourite Pools player of recent seasons. He's a class footballer with a great attitude - just look at the amount of times he's been the face of Pools in the community initiatives. That didn't stop some of our lovely fans from accusing him of being a shirker or at best 'finished' only a month or two ago, because of the number of games he was missing from what sounded like minor injuries.

Now the same people will say it's when disgrace if he moves on, especially if it's to South Shields. The fact is Jamie only managed to start in 23 games - half a season's worth of fixtures. Is there any reason to think he'll do better next season, whoever he is playing for?

Askey wants more athleticism in next season's side. Dan Dodds fits the bill for that, so Pools have a ready-made replacement for Sterry at right back.

Do we really think Sterry will be moving to South Shields - albeit his injuries which i am led to believe are more mental than physical btw. There is no doubt there is numerous league clubs whom would have him regardless of game time etc... but i know hes a home bird.. if Pools can give him a new decent contract am sure he will be staying put - unless a Harrogate come in for him.

alot of lads been released already - good ones at that too who would do a damn fine job for us in the NL. Wether we get them sorts of players is down to JA and Raj but as we know the retained list isnt even spoken of just now and Raj couldnt give a toss anymore. So yeh long and woeful close season ahead - wont be looking forwards to who we actually do get as i believe it be more along the lines of last seasons panic shite

Thing is, if you are a decent player at League Two level, why would you sign for a non league club unless the money was more than you could get from a FL club? Also why come to the North East if you could ply your trade in the North West or the Midlands. Of course there are other factors involved but money and location will be top of the list.

He was class in the national league and some of last season, I don't think injuries or whatever else is going on in his life is helping. Be a shame if he does go.

Why did Kevin Phillips leave SShields ?[/quote]

As it's for rumours, supposedly talking to a League side, Walsall?

Strange game football, Fenton was a better manager before him but 2 promotions prevented by Covid regulations. He had a much smaller budget than Phillips did.

We are going to be owned by a mega rich foreigner whose sole aim is to get us to the premiership, with a stadium to suit that ambition. Our deep fat fryers are to be state of the art and two foot long hotdogs our culinary delight. The Cyril Knowles stand will be doubled in size and feature behind the east end goal, as we are turning the pitch east to west. The Mill house stand will be demolished and rebuilt behind the west end goal. Two new stands will be created either side of the pitch.
Our playing budget will be £500 million per season, rising as and when necessary.
I've left the best till last.
In the stand which Snowy and me choose to sit there will be heskeylators to an area consisting of plush leather seats, complete with armrests and heated.

I heard that as well. Oh and Dave Challinor will be coming back as manager because the new owners have out bid the Stockport gadgie.

Sterrys lack of fitness/challenges are the only reason we had him to begin with--easily a league 1 player when fully fit.

We desperately need some athletes in midfield

Assume we are keeping Cooke who is a tidy player but not particularly physical--so we need some runners and battlers in there

AFAIK
KP left Shields because the could no longer meet his expectations financially.

Their chairman speaks of it on site.

So the hot rumour just now is...

Mr Musgrave being back in to buy the club... Mr Stelling is acting somewhere in there but will not be part of the consortium nor fronting it.

heard it from 2 separate reliable people now too and their is talk on the other forum of it too.

fingers crossed this is true and he will take Pools back to where we belong - thats League 1 btw not just 2 !

He was willing to whistle to the tune of 1.5mill last time but couldnt see where or how it would be spent by the sounds of things - this time the clubs finances are better and we have made a profit - seems this would be better circumstances and maybe some truth in this takeover.

I don’t want Musgrave, he has a chequered history from land deals at Wynyard and now the old British Steel site with Houchen which I highlighted on another post. He is a property developer and his first intention would be to try and buy the ground but as Snowy says the ground is our life raft and should never be sold.

Well Raj had better start giving a toss, as I don’t see Askey hanging about if he gets lead up the garden path.

‘Retained list not even be spoken about’ The vast majority of clubs have still to issue retained list. Doesn’t say it is not being discussed obviously can’t publicise what they are thinking. Also Askey has already stated he was planning for next season.

Yep, and there is a hell of a lot to sort out. Who we want rid of and how to go about it if they are still contracted. Those we want to stay if their contracts are about to finish, how can they be persuaded and how long it might take? Those we want to sign and how much we can pay them which may depend on who we can get rid of. Cant be many clubs at our level with 40 players on their staff with such a lot of decisions to be made so I can understand why it is taking a bit longer than some other clubs with less players and fewer decisions to make.

Not sure if there's any truth in it, but I got told the other day that Chris Turner is heading a consortium alongside 2 American millionaires, also another rumour about some local guy who has a big plumbing business (has the council contracts apparently), can't remember his name though.

I think Musgrave will have close ties to the Council after his development at Wynyard, he is a well known businessman in the town. He would be looking to buy the ground and the surrounding land for some form of development. Once the baths get demolished I would like to see an indoor training centre for Pools and some all weather pitches etc.

as i have said a multitude of times before, beware of anybody who wants to buy the ground. would not trust myself if i owned the vic never mind an outsider coming in. quicker the better that its written in stone that the ground can only be used for sporting perposes and planning permission will never be given for anything else. i,d rather see pools as they are now than going to a flatpack near the A19.

Be Borthwick group the plumbing link - him and his brother have mountains of cash - unfortunately dont see eye to eye.

be good though if some local person with a passion for Pools took us over - need someone with very very deep pockets though. As we have found out

prefer a local person coming in with deep pockets rather than an arab or yank with deep deep ones. one thing i will say is if a yank comes in i,ll walk out as a do not want pools to become a circus football club.

Be Borthwick group the plumbing link - him and his brother have mountains of cash - unfortunately dont see eye to eye.

be good though if some local person with a passion for Pools took us over - need someone with very very deep pockets though. As we have found out

Looking at Borthwick on Companies House he has some money but but take the £2 million Singh wants it would reduce his cash substantially.

The company for some reason was going to struck off ?

Anyone who bought Pools would set a separate company up like Clarence 18 which Singh did then you could go bust and not be liable for any debts if I am correct ?

Maybe Musgrave will buy Pools from the money he has made from the land at the steelworks in Redcar, him and his mate bought a piece of land from the South Tees Development Corporation aka Ben Houchen for £100 then flipped it for £75 million to a Korean company.

Got to admire your dreamland hope n expectations.
My take is we will be closer to Administration.
Finish 5th bottom is more realistic.
Seems like any potential new owners would rather start from scratch than negotiate a deal with this current debacle.

Let’s be honest, this is not the only deal done for ‘friends of friends’ it went on for PPE supply during Covid where ‘friends of friends’ who had no experience got contracts to supply PPE some which was not fit for purpose. We are talking billions not millions of pounds, maybe one of those companies would buy Pools, then there is the track and trace system, just under £40 billion eye watering numbers, this is our money which has been squandered !

I hope your right Snowy, Singh could put Pools into admin, wouldn’t cost him nought as it’s a separate company from his own business, he wouldn’t show any remorse either.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Pools aren't even winding up the Academy this time around (interview in today's Mail) and Pools are announcing football in the community initiatives over the summer on the OS.

Quiet week, daft rumour. The silly season has begun!
