The lockdown and zero covid stance of China has put them in a difficult position going forward but many see it more as a tactic to control their population. Where are the Pools shirts made in asia?
Is there any uk manufacturers of kit?

answer to your last point, yes there is but are smaller ones. might be an idea to see what they can offer in the future. can see it happening again.

If produced in the Uk, the effects and costs of shipping it half way around the world would be avoided and shorter supply lines….and jobs.

O'Neill's have manufacturing facilities in UK/ ROI so this could have been done. Unfortunately their sizing and quality issues took them out from consideration, which is unfortunate. As Snowy says, these would would be jobs here and wages/ taxes. However, the raw materials will still have to come from somewhere to that factory so it is likely issues further up the supply chain would impact anyway.

surely there are still cloth manufacturers and dye works still about in this country. if not someone could set one up if they see a demand for it. still empty buildings around my area that could be used before the mystery fire engulfs em all.

Difference is the people working in the sweat shops in Asia are probably on 5 dollars a day.
max. The minimum wage in Thailand no matter how many hours you work is around £8/10 a day.

You’re dead right mate, but considering the cost of a shirt at source and in the shop someone is making a whacking profit and endorsing sweat shop suppliers overseas.

there must be so many making a whacking profit out of these shirts before the club shop ever receives them. do not know how much pools make on them but possibly not the biggest profit made on them. buying direct from a british manufacturer could mean they,d be no difference in the end selling price but less or nothing for those inbetween.

Am I missing something here. Do we not have an association with suit direct. Why can't they make them under license. Just up the road...

Sadly, if ‘just up the road’ is Powlett Road, it’s been a distribution centre for years, the last person to get a suit there was Samuel Pepys.
