Just won £10 K on Talksport.

Tom - "Nah. Man United".

Poor Tom - Hopefully it pays for his Arsenal Badge Tattoo cover up on his left calf - or infact get him a new Liverpool bed spread or Chelsea Shirt with his grown ass name on the back. Pillock

He might have been born in Manchester and moved to Hartlepool because of his dad's job. If his dad is a Man Utd fan chances are he would be. My wife was born in Manchester, moved to Liverpool when she was 12, cos of her dad's job and supports Pools. Her dad supported Marine so she supports them as well. He was born in St Helens and was mainly a rugby league fan.
My daughter was born in Doncaster but supports Pools. I was born in the district of Dunfermline, because my dad worked at Rosyth dockyard, but supported Pools. The reason for all that was because I was brought up by my dad to be a Poolie and My wife and daughter followed my lead.
All three of us proved the banner on the Mill House to be nonsense when it says Poolies are born, not made.
Of course you all may be right when you call him a plastic fan but there again you could be jumping the gun.
There are lots of people who support the team their dad supports because that's what they are brought up to do. I often say, in jest of course, I blame me dad.
I look out for the Pars (Dunfermline) results. I suppose it's natural. Fife is a beautiful county and I'll be visiting there in July.
Think of all the South East Poolies with their southern accents. The Kent beerboys. All brainwashed by their dads/grandads.

Love them, Did you know that the monkey hanging story is said to originate in Arbroath and was brought to Hartlepool by Arbroath fishermen landing their catch. I kid you not.

bit like many poolie exiles who still regard pools as their number 1 club. some may not even see a game unless they are playing near where they live, but i imagine most will have adopted a second team to watch if not 100 per cent support. i,d love to afford to come up to the vic for every game but have to watch the odd accrington game and meet up with my lad at stockport occasionally just because finances do not stretch any further.

I have been in SY for 44 years and have never adopted a second club to go and watch. I have Donny, Rotherham, both Sheffield Clubs, Scunthorpe, Barnsley and Leeds within striking distance and the last time I went to any of them was to watch Pools. Can't be arsed to be honest.

do not think its a case of adopting a new club its more of getting your football fix. if you are not overly bothered by the result it can be enjoyable, plus the refs do not seem as bad either if pools are not involved. the alternative is having to go to the shops to save a row at home. surely anything is better than morrisons on a saturday apart from asda that is.

To be fair, he did opt for Man U …which gives the game away. A divvy.

Disappointed they didn't get promoted, I'm sure the likes of Rangers and Celtic would love the idea of visiting Gayfield on a chilly December night, complete with crashing waves spilling onto the terrace.

As for Tom, that's a pretty big commute to make for a team who'll probably win less than Pools next season

not really, he,ll be classed as a local when their fans fly in by plane or come up from the west country or essex.
