According to 'In The Mad Crowd' today was our biggest away win in the league since we joined the Football League in 1920. It just bettered the 6-1 win at Southport in the 56/57 season.

Have you read that right? Hate to go against Mad John on anything, but unfortunately today's result is irrelevant to Pools' Football League stats. It's our biggest win of any kind in the National League, but the win at Southport stands as the biggest Football League away win.

Apologies for the ambiguity! Was only meaning a 'league' win, rather than a Cup victory. Not trying to suggest we are still in the Football League .. this season.

Aye, anything that occurs in the national league doesn't actually exist. It's all just a fantasy! None of it's real or means anything apparently.

could always find the middle ground and say its pools highest away win as a professional club.

That'll do for me - just wish I'd put some money on a 2-7 score!

just wonder what the odds would have been on that and getting the first scorer correct in some type of double bet if that was available.

Difficult to say Mr Accy but 2-7 would almost certainly be over 500-1. First scorer would possibly multiply those odds by say five, give or take. However the question is would you jeopardise your bet by doubling up with Oates as the first scorer. It would be safer to put Oates to score at any time but even then would it be worth crashing out of a 500-1 plus shot. In our lifetime 2-7 has happened once, would you risk that occurrence by sticking Oates in as first scorer. Don't forget that you have ten of your own players against you plus own goals and subs. If I contemplated that sort of bet it would be say a daft quid on the double on top of a single bet on 2-7.
You can build up your bet in numerous ways by including number of corners, yellow and red cards etc etc.
It would be nice to get such a bet up though. Let me know when you do and I'll let you buy me a pint !!!!!

never bet. however with my bad luck i will put a bet on our opposition to beat pools if we get into the play off final. not a little bet but one that will hurt me when i lose. that would be the only way i could guarentee divison 2 football at the vic next season.
