So sorry to hear this. Always wanted to meet MB'ts as i live away. Got the brief chance at Torquay last year. RIP a true Poolie. One less to cheer the lads on. Don't know what else to say.

I'm truly shocked. I got to know John Hawksworth pretty well over the past few years, through this board and the Trust. He was often maligned by people who take themselves too seriously but he was a genuinely nice bloke.

I'll write more later but in shock at the moment. RIP mate.

So very sorry to hear this sad news. John was a "one off " top man. Always a gentleman when we met up at the trust. Travel safely John.

I got to know John through the bunker when he was running the cafe at Middlesbrough and used to go through for a bite to eat, very witty and funny fella and i was only on the phone to him a few weeks back and he was going in to hospital for a operation but i didn't think it was anything serious.

Poor fella woukd be nice to sort a whip round for his wife and kids or to get some sort of plaque at pools fir him

Myself, Bluestreak and Monkeybutt and our driver Steve had many a great away day following Pools. He is the wittiest bloke Iv'e ever met and a gentleman. He put me on to making real bread and still do and always will. I know a few people on here had a dig at him but you obviously didn't know the man behind the pseudonym. He was also very generous and would help anybody out.

He leaves behind a lovely wife and two young children he was rightly proud of as he raised them to be polite and caring, he also recently became a grandfather for the first time.

I for one will miss him more than words can say. R.I.P. Mr Monkeybutt the Bunker is a poorer place without you.

I did not know him personally but enjoyed his constant wind ups on this forum and feel it only fitting that it has been renamed as a tribute to him. Maybe the trust could have a plaque for him at the corner flag. One of the great Poolies with a great sense of humour ,and will be missed by us all.
RIP

I really can't add more to Hartleblues comments. He was a top bloke. RIP John.

I endorse all the above comments. I never knew who Monkeybutt was and it was some reply or other on the bunker last year when he said he would be at Torquay on the Saturday. Just before the game started I passed this guy with his kids and something told me to ask him if he was Monkeybutt. He replied he was and I told him who i was on the bunker. We shook hands and he went his way and I went mine. Privileged to have met you sir, a true Poolie and sadly one less of you lot. May you be forever at The Vic in spirit. Rest in peace MB.
