Council statement.

New measures are to be introduced at Seaton Carew to ensure that pedestrians can safely observe social distancing.
From tomorrow, the on-street parking bays along The Front, covering the main shopping area, are to be coned off and motorists will not be able to access them.
The bays will effectively become an extension of the existing footpath, creating more space to enable people to stay two metres apart.
The measures which are in line with current Government COVID-19 guidance, are to remain in place indefinitely although they will be reviewed at regular intervals.

the anti car brigade will love all that. more yellow paint about in the future i think with more of a permanent closure of the bays than reinstating em. is there a plan to knacker seaton up again as parking is not that easy on a busy day at the moment.

I think it`s a great idea, more room to walk and reduce the amount of people down there, where will they park and no way will they walk that far, hopefully!

The old "shows" car park by the golf club has been expanded x2 from what i can see. Hopefully these bays will be closed in peak months.

Seaton was weird. Drove though this afternoon, plenty of cars but the beach was empty....mind you with that wind and sand flying over the beach you had a good job of getting sand blasted. But where were the people....?

if you reduce the amount of people down there , then you do not need extra spaces to walk. to make seaton better you need people to go there and make it easy and not more difficult for them. be interesting what they do with the parking bays once things get back to normal. lots of people with families are not going to walk from the parking area at the back of the golf club to the cafes and arcades.

With the new government guidelines relaxing lockdown in a pretty confusing manner are you really surprised these places are busy?

No ones really sure what to do, and its a bit of a piss take that you can go to work n mix with any old twat you work with but not see your mam. I'm sure plenty have thought well you know what fuck this.

I'm not saying everyone should be down seaton, but if people are staying apart whats the problem?

I went to ward jackson park yday with the kids, we kept our distance from people, it was pretty busy but we managed, and i didnt see people mingling, the cafe que was 2m apart, i'd say it was being followed pretty well. Obviously you'll get doyles who break it (tory mps mainly??) but i think thats in the minority really.

Businesses cant stay closed forever, they have to try and function in some way, they wont get help forever, they have bills and overheads like every one else.

Like i said the rules are confusing, the virus will get you on a bus or at your mams house but it wont get you in lidl or aldi where its just a free for all inside.

Clever virus.

It's not confusing at all. Keep your distance. Wash your hands. Its really really easy to understand how this virus spreads. People shouldn't need rules to understand it.

It is confusing, there's been countless tv shows and news interivews of people pretty fuckin bamboozled as to how this virus can pick n choose its target based on the governments half arsed lockdown guidelines.

I mean it was so confusing a few weeks ago that mp went n visited is ma in durham.

This virus can't live in a takeaway shop, or asda, or in me local spar... but if i went to me brothers house the virus could spread there.

Like i said most people i've seen are keeping there distance, and a trip to seaton or the park n queing 2m apart, walking with your own family and keeping away from others is harmless.

The most dangerous factor at the moment is the curtain twitching karens making people feel bad for just cracking on n doing their best.

I see where you are coming but the rules are only there for people who have no common sense and cant apply that to the decisions they make.

Those that do have common sense are confused because there is all sorts of things they CAN do while not risking spreading or catching the virus because the measures to avoid it are so simple.

The problem is the morons, not the rules. If the world was full of those possessing and using common sense, there would be no need for rules.

Not playing dumb, it is a genuine question. The MP in question, whoever he is, needs to explain. So who is it????

but is he doing what he has wanted to do for years and just using the virus as an excuse. as a nation, unless your livelihood depends on it, we are not keen to say the least on tourists. some locals in norfork used to have a , they have all gone, party at the end of the holiday season.

Think I have said this before , but farmers couldn't lock down their land to walkers quick enough during the foot and mouth crisis. It gave them the seclusive life many of them crave.

I think they may have got this idea from one of the beach resorts down south.
A lot of pubs may be starting to do this if they have a area around them where customers can sit and drink.

could go on all day about different stuff farmers do to so call protect their land. loads of instances of em blocking off footpaths that are public rights of way well before they bought their farms. locked gates, dumping of stuff, building walls etc. that i know of. that will be just a drop in the ocean of everything that goes on. the picture of a happy smiling red faced farmer is far from the truth. a great carear for someone of a real miserable disposition . i,d have tried it but do not like early starts.

Think I have said this before , but farmers couldn't lock down their land to walkers quick enough during the foot and mouth crisis. It gave them the seclusive life many of them crave.

could go on all day about different stuff farmers do to so call protect their land. loads of instances of em blocking off footpaths that are public rights of way well before they bought their farms. locked gates, dumping of stuff, building walls etc. that i know of. that will be just a drop in the ocean of everything that goes on. the picture of a happy smiling red faced farmer is far from the truth. a great carear for someone of a real miserable disposition . i,d have tried it but do not like early starts.

I wouldn't have put you down as really miserable, young feller but seriously the farmers around here are exactly the opposite to what you describe, so I guess we must be lucky. They get involved with community stuff, help at events, allow access to their fields when asked, keep "kissing gates" and stiles in good repair, loads of ancient footpaths, support junior football by creating pitches, changing facilities etc. Most of them are good company at the bar but they do whinge on about the weather, although that affects their daily life a lot. I used to think they were a funny bunch but living amongst them for over forty years they're alright gadgies.

I lived in Brighton from 1986 - 88 and the first thing I noticed was how nice the weather was compared to Hartlepool. Not sure there is that much difference 35 years later , but there certainly was then.
