Some dummy spitting out here from Pools!!

https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/cup- ... cancelled/

Kids played yesterday, first team plays Saturday, suppose a scratch squad wouldn't of had much chance of beating Sunderland Under 23s anyway.

Concentrate on the league!!

This is a shocking decision.

Fair enough they don't have enough players and have messed up the fixtures. But why not give a bit notice. Not everyone will check the website to find out. I am lucky that I randomly did and saved me the journey.

The club is not acting very professionally at the moment.

Where is the dummy spitting?

Well done the club, with our list of injuries then it was an utterley pointless fixture so close to a game Saturday.

Probably arranged on a Thursday night knowing full well we wouldnt put a decent team out.

They should have known before how many players would be injured or have niggles. Why didn’t they invest in that crystal ball? A win on Saturday keeps our season alive why would you risk anyone who might be involved in this in this game?

On what level is it ‘shocking?’ what would have been shocking and irresponsible would have been asking kids to play two nights in a row.

What is unprofessional about it? Its circumstances and basic common sense especially when it’s a completely meaningless competition.

How much notice do you need to not travel to Eppleton?

The players have been injured since at least Saturday. They knew they had a Youth team game and it can't hjave been rocket science to know before yesterday they didn't fancy it.

As I have to use public transport it would have been a couple of hours each way. Just fancied a trip out. I only looked to see if we had made any new signings.

5 hours notice is very poor.

So they should have known what the fitness of the whole squad would be on Thursday on the Saturday before? Is that what you are saying.

I’m sorry it’s ruined your plans but I’m quite comfortable with Pools putting Saturday’s game before them

Still doing charm lessons then?
He has every right to be aggrieved, 5 hours notice smacks of knee jerk reactions, so they didn't know yesterday or Tuesday, Piss poor planning.
Yes Saturday is more important but communication is key.

When I think of you I think charm personified. I have asked some perfectly fair questions I think.

What if the decision was only made today on assessing the squad the injury situation the team we had in mind and those who might be involved Saturday? How can something be communicated before a decision has actually been made? It’s unfortunate but sensible. I would call your reaction knee jerk rather than the club, the manager has fully explained the decision.

How many of the youth team were penned in for the game on Saturday do you reckon?, I'll help you out here because your thousands of miles away, fuck all, so yes he knew yesterday and probably Tuesday.

SNAFU.

The youth team had a game yesterday, and he didn’t want to fill the team with kids against Sunderland’s reserve team especially when they will be fatigued already. I imagine the plan was to play as close to our second team is possible but we have 8 out injured. I am thousands of miles away but I read Challinor’s explanation and am very comfortable with it.

Some of the comments on social media are unbelievable, people are talking as if it's the champions league! I don't even see why we enter it, plenty of games in the league to test players and keep them fit if rotated properly.

"County cup competitions take priority over league games"

Right I'm subscribing to their YouTube channel in anticipation of next years draw.

Do they really believe this? Sounds typical of a county FA

Sunderland want booting out as well then entering the U23 when the competition clearly takes priority over the first team getting out of League One.

I hope we never enter it again.

I'm going to use this thread as barometer to determine who talks sense n who talks bollocks.

As always the usual bollocks talkers are lead by the gang leader mr butt.

Well done pools, league is key, this game means nowt.

vote on what?

I'm agreeing with pools decision.

I dont think the decision to protect the youth team and the first team is bollocks at all.

And I am responding to your barometer with my barometer which reads that you talk bollocks. I can't argue with a barometer.

I'm was fucking outraged. I was most of the way through a 21 hour drive to see this vital fixture when Pools suddenly made what appeared to be a completely crazy decision. But then I found out that Sunderland had arranged to play the match at a ground with no working fridges! SAFC are entirely to blame and should be expelled from all competitions - Pools were quite correct to make a stand on this issue.

if its like other county cup competitions you are correct. then it gets really complicated as teams at a certain level have to treat it as a first team game and those above em do not need to hence sunderland u 23,s. basically county f.a.,s and their competitions are 19th century affairs played in the 21st century and should be scrapped for clubs above a certain level.

Durham FA is still ran as if it's 1984.. Hartlepool Sunday League is only slightly ahead.. 1987.

Not been able to play the game with the number of players the club has is embarrassing. Surely there is individuals who could do with a competitive game regardless of the opposition. Another example of the fans accepting any old dross the club put out regards current situations. Come the end of the season that one game missed will guarantee 15 place for the next 4 seasons.

!924 is probably nearer the mark. Most of these cups have had their day. Even the FA Cup is not what it used to be, although it's still a money spinner to smaller clubs if they get the luck of the draw.
i have always regarded the Durham Senior cup as an opportunity to put our youngsters up against men but apart from that...................

Are we not obliged to enter? I notice County Cup games all over the country with league teams in fact I was a guest at the N Riding Senior cup final game between Middlesbrough and Scarborough last year.

I was available for a game like. Pools should've contacted me. At least 3 of the Media departments should take responsibility for this.
