I always thought the idea that some people took pleasure in Pools losing was mad but you seem to get a huge kick out of predicting the worst and then being proved right. I can imagine you going to check your bank account and saying to anybody who'll listen, "I bet somebody has stolen all my money and run up a huge overdraft that I'll never convince the bank to write off, they will have, mark my words." Then, when you finally do find out that you've been robbed blind, you run about delighted telling everybody that you knew it all along - massive smile on your face.

We certainly had the right number of points for our position and the table hasn't lied since I lost the last set of League Ladders that were free with Shoot! So maybe he means the play offs are false? That way he could still complain if we went up through the play offs because it wouldn't be a 'real' promotion. If you're going to be miserable whatever happens you have to guard against any possible achievements or moments of happiness then anticipate and undermine them before they arrive.
