Had to have been the worst example of a meat and potato pie I had last night at the game, not sure if it is still Parkers that supply but dreadful it was.

If it was me, I would strike a deal with Kinnersleys to supply the pies, ditch the van outside the millhouse as part of the deal, win win.

I know I shouldn`t be eating pies due to my girth but needs must when skipped lunch/tea

ps these are my personal views only.

We know they are your personal views as nobody else cares enough about Pies in a football ground to start another thread about them.

I have never anyone who reckons the food is shit somewhere who seemingly eats there at every opportunity.

It’s like saying to your missus “fancy going to that terrible restaurant we went to last week” and her saying “oh yeah let’s go again its properly fucking shit”

They could sell a pie with dog shit in for me as long as the team in doing well.

I remember the worst Pie I had was at Burnley. It said ‘Potato Pie’ and I ordered one out curiosity. It was just dry mash in a pie. You’d have started a thread I reckon.

I really dont understand this obsession with Pools providing sub standard food.
The purchase cost of decent quality pies/chips etc compared to the sale price charged is small and the provision of good quality products would generate more sales and profit.
What really pisses me off though is this is a mentality that seem to pervade towns like Hartlepool where everything has to be cheap shite and there is this perpetual race to the bottom.
The provision of decent quality food at a reasonable price with a good profit is perfectly easy to achieve you just need someone who know what they are doing.
Sort it out Pools.

ps Thats me getting angry.

Mash pie? You're winding us up.

I'm not entirely sure what is to be gained complaining about the quality of the food on the Bunker. I'm sure it's been suggested before that monkeybutt directs his criticism in his specialist area to the club directly, maybe even offer to help?

You could take your one liner thread with you too!

What are you babbling on about Bluestreak?

Name one Football Ground where you get good quality food?

It’s genrally absolute shite, and the higher up the Leagues you get the worse it is.

Nobody is obsessed it’s just most people don’t go to a match to eat, if you do you sort of know what type of stuff will be on offer.

Yes it was a lumpy dry mash pie, if I had an agenda about Burnleys catering I’d have been furious.

Catering is one of the key areas to address in the "matchday experience" along with everything from seating comfort, parking, safety to the fans connection to the club and players etc etc etc.
Just get it right its f*c*ing easy.

You seem to be promoting the British apathetic approach to being served shit whilst the provider makes a fortune out of you.
Focus your thoughts on what makes up the "matchday experience"

Guiseley was tops last year and also Shildon.

Demand quality like the rest of western Europe!

ps Now look what you have started Mr Butt!!!!

Comfort? Seating? Parking?

“Yeah I enjoyed Saturday’s game and was great we won but the day was totally ruined as someone was in my usual parking spot”

Said nobody ever.

As for comfort!? You are watching non league football. Call me old fashioned but match day experience to me normally involves the team playing well, the crowd getting behind the team and having a good day with my mates. If you want matchday exoerience bollocks go to Old Trafford.

Theirs always areas the club can improve but we nearly went out of business a matter of months ago so these things are a million miles off ‘key’ right now. We have made a decent start to the season losing 1 in 9 monkeybutt not enjoying his meat and potato pie does not take the gloss off that.

Using a phrase like 'the match day experience' undermines any point you're trying to make. And inverted commas don't excuse it. Surely just asking for nice pies when they cost about the same as shit pies is enough?

If I go to a match and Pools play badly and lose not even a pie so nice it would make Monkeybutt come in his generously sized thundercrackers would make me have a good experience. Equally, one of PJ's mash pies wouldn't ruin a cheeky away win. In fact, I'd remember the terrible pie fondly because the match is what matters and if it is good the pies, beer, seats, grounds, parking, and driving conditions all seem OK.

"Demand quality like the rest of western Europe!"

Ha ha ha ha! Come and try a Sandwich Merguez Americain before Téfécé match Mr Bluestreak. Bad cheap sausages that aren't even spicy in half a semi-stale baguette and the Americain bit it means you get crappy frozen chips tipped on top. And before you say buy something else the only alternative is the same thing with saucisse de toulouse instead - composition 98% gristle.

That seems an improvement on the stuff you get at Pools. It would be a step in the right direction. Can you get the name of the caterer ? :)

We lost 4-1, the pie was actually the most memorable thing.

I’m still intrigued by ‘comfort’. What do you want a fucking recliner?

Parking-What about if you are taking a disabled person to the game?
Do you realise one of the most important issues for women at any event/establishment is the quality/cleanliness of the toilets.
It is not nowadays about a load of old blokes going to the game, our society has changed and football at all levels needs to change what it offers to match that.....even Pools.

We sit in separate areas of the ground so as to share out the hilarity. :-D

For the first time in living memory I had pie and chips and a Bovril at the ground cos I was very hungry. On offer was three different pies namely steak, mince or meat and tatty. I had the steak, it was ok. the chips were ok and the Bovril was, yes you've guessed it, ok. I made a mental note never to enter the ground in an advanced state of peckishness ever again, although I would have the Bovril again.
My problem was that I had spent a good part of the afternoon and early evening trying to get to Hartlepool by train without much success, due to a series of hilarious events culminating in arriving by a free taxi ride from Darlo. However that is another story.

Back in the early 90s I bought a burger from a van outside Elland Road that was so disgusting that even ravenous after 4 pints I binned it after the first mouthful.

A couple of years later the first cases of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease were diagnosed and linked to Mad Cow Disease. People who ate lots of cheap, dodgy beef products were most at risk. Never seen the stats for Leeds or for football fans, but it's a fact that 3 times as many people have had horrible deaths in Britain from CJD than in the rest of the world put together.

We are what we eat.

Therein lies the problem, the reason I don`t normally eat at the ground is due to sub standard food, I only got a pie last night due to circumstance, if the food was a decent standard I would spend my money, which is what the club want to boost revenue.
I know you like the sound of your own voice and historically love to stir the brown stuff but if that is your contribution, stick to the rounders thread.

As one gets older, seating, parking and food quality becomes more important, i hope i`m alive to witness you bitch about lumpy camel rides in latter years!

ps I did offer to help!

I love a PJ vs MonkeyButt bitching thread as much as the next guy, but you're both right. The food is crap at the match and it should be better, but that's not the most important thing. I'd rather Pools were top of the league with road kill pies than bottom with the best pies ever. Doesn't mean we can't aspire to both like.

But Bates is doimg ok at present and has no control over pies, except the ones he eats!
There are people who can affect this other than team coach.
We can have both surely!

Back in 2015 one of the contestants on the Bake Off made pies out of road kill.
Pheasant, duck or venison pies would be the talk of the Bananarama League.

one thing you can expect at all football grounds is that food is of poor quality and the price is much higher than in a cafe. why do people regularly partake of it is beyond me apart from those who leave work and go straight to the match or arrive late for away games. this matchday experiance lark also gets me. i,ve had a good experiance with a win, average with a draw and a bad one with a defeat.

The fact of the matter is that some people like having the choice and it is not unreasonable to ask for a bit of quality and value.
Clubs like Pools need revenue from a number of streams and the catering one is just part of that.
if they are paying people to man these outlets, which they are, they need to maximise the interest in them.
I don't buy sweets or ale at the ground but some people do. There is not a half time goes by without there are complaints about the service etc. Is it wrong to ask for improvement and/or quality??????

I agree and understand that, Snowy. I had my lunch at 12-30, left the house at 2pm to travel to the match by public transport. My intention was to get off the train just after 5, walk into Seaton, sit down for fish and chips and then walk to the match. Due to a conglomeration of hold ups( no not the dick turpin kind) and cancellations I was unable to fulfil my schedule, hence my reason for grabbing what looked the best solution at the ground.
If I'm faced with the same problem again I'll post my plight on here and maybe one of the very kind bunkerites will bring a bag of sandwiches and a flask of coffee to the ground for me. Now that would be nice and I'll be sure to give an excellent review of the fare provided.

if they are paying people to man these outlets, which they are, they need to maximise the interest in them.
I don't buy sweets or ale at the ground but some people do. There is not a half time goes by without there are complaints about the service etc. Is it wrong to ask for improvement and/or quality??????

That gravy in your beard suggests that you're already up to your neck in it.

And before you say I haven't seen your beard just remember the power of the HatCam.

Just had a smoked haddock pasty. I was not comfortable with the price at £4.50
