Franksy has signed a contract with Icelandic football team IBV. Thought this was a wind up when I first read it but apparently it's true. This from the club's website:

ÍBV Bætir Við Sig Sóknarmanni Frá Wales
16.05.2018
Karlalið ÍBV í knattspyrnu nældi sér í hinn 28 ára gamla sóknarmann Jonathan Franks áður en félagsskiptaglugganum lokaði á miðnætti í gær en frá þessu greinir fótbolti.net. Franks er Walesverji en hann ólst upp hjá Middlesbrough og lék einn leik með liðinu þegar það féll úr ensku úrvalsdeildinni tímabilið 2008/2009. Hann kom þá inn á sem varamaður í leik gegn West Ham. Tímabilið eftir skoraði Jonathan þrjú mörk í 21 leik í Championship deildinni með Middlesbrough. Tímabilið 2011/2012 spilaði Jonathan í C-deildinni með Yeovil og síðan í C og D-deild með Hartlepool. Franks spilaði með Ross County í skosku úrvalsdeildinni frá 2015 til 2017 en í vetur lék hann með Hartlepool United og Wrexham í ensku utandeildinni.

It doesn't make a whole lot more sense using Google translate:

ÍBV Adds A Striker From Wales
16.05.2018
Manchester United's 28-year-old striker Jonathan Franks fought before the club closed at midnight yesterday, but this is what football reports. Franks is Waleser and he grew up with Middlesbrough and played one game with the team when it fell from the Premier League season 2008/2009. He then came in as a substitute for a game against West Ham. The season after Jonathan scored three goals in 21 games in the Championship league with Middlesbrough. The 2011/2012 season played Jonathan in the C-league with Yeovil and then in the C and D league with Hartlepool. Franks played with Ross County in the Scottish Premier League from 2015 to 2017, but in winter he played with Hartlepool United and Wrexham in the English league.

Needless to say, the Icelandic League plays its football in the summer. Wonder how long his new deal is for?

I thought this thread would be about reasonably priced frozen foods!

If you translate it into Basque, Machester United goes away.
I'm going to translate everything into Basque from now on.

Karlalið ÍBVek kafetegiak bi urte daramatzan bitartean, 28 urte zituela Jonathan Franks-ek bere lehen fikziozko liburuan argitaratu zuen. Franks er Walesverlies-en izan zen lehen aldiz, eta Middlesbrough-ekin lehiaketa irabazi du 2008/2009 denboraldian. Hann-ek West Ham-ek bere etxean jarri zuen. Bertso saioan Jonathan Urrezko domina irabazi du 21 urteren buruan Middlesbrough-en. 2011/2012 ikasturtean, Jonathan C-ekin batera joaten da eta C eta D-etik Hartlepool-en. Frantzisko Ross konderriko gobernuak hilabete bakarrean 2017 arte utzi zuen 2017an, Hartlepool United eta Wrexham-ekin batera.

Thanks for clearing that up. He's still a Welshman born in Stockton-on-Tees though.

Did anyone else think from reading the thread title that he'd packed in footy to work for a frozen food retailer?

That's what I hoped people would think Mr. PiN. I also hoped that when they read the thread they'd see what I'd done there...

To be fair, I'm not surprised the Bish is confused as counting sheep all day doesn't make anybody the sharpest tack on the cork board, but you're supposed to be a city slicker!

I'm slicker than Soft Mick me. I do appreciate misleading post titles, and was hoping more japery would follow from my observation - maybe a reference to him making a crap driver because of inconsistent deliveries etc.
