Regardless of what has transpired this season at HUFC there is no cause for celebrating a club of Pools stature staving off relegation from this Godawful League with just two games remaining. However, Matty Bates surely deserves great credit for managing to mould and motivate Craig Harrison’s shower of utter shite into something at least resembling a professional football outfit.

Bates worked a minor miracle in inspiring these losers not once (during the 5x game unbeaten run) but twice after they had reverted to type against Guiseley and Solihull. Hopefully we will have seen the back of the vast majority of this inept group come May but Singh has a big decision to make in respect of Bates - and one that he simply cannot afford to get wrong.

And if we say thank you to Matty Bates, who has taken up this challenge and, as you suggest and as no one can deny, has come through pretty much with flying colours? Can we consider him a Poolie?

Tricky to pick a MOM - as No one stood out, but although there was a couple of slip ups, I'd give it to Laing because there was some crucial headers and blocks he put in.

Barring his once-a-game calamity that leads to a goal scoring chance for the opposition, Laing is a fairly solid player IMO. If he could cut out that lapse in concentration, he'd be a more than reliable centre half. Rarely loses a header and has good positional sense.

Rodney should've been sent off twice last night. First lunge was horrendous, and the second booking you could see coming a mile off, he does it every single game. He's lucky it's taken this long to get booked for it. Actually, didn't he get sent off for the same thing earlier in the season? Complete stupidity.
