Great to finally see some hopefully positive news today but don't understand the transfer embargo.

Thought it was odd as we are not in administration and the Mail suggest "This is not related to any financial irregularities or the current predicament Pools find themselves in".

So obvious question precisely why can't we even take players on loan or extend deals such as Franks ????

This is fantastic news as it is what happens on Football Manager when a takeover is pending.

From today's Mail.

"Pools were sanctioned by the governing body because they have not produced the correct paperwork for certain transactions, but it is absolutely nothing to do with financial irregularities."

It becomes a little clearer but totally inexcusable.

Incompetence or something more sinister?

I presumed it was just because we were due to be taken over tbh.

Reading through the lines i thought we could not sign any players due to the fact that Duxbury was not in a position to confirm with the National League that we could fulfill the remaining fixtures.

The conference are on you like a shot when you have financial shit.

I read the reason for the embargo was because under the current regime pools cant prove they can see the season out, so they wont let us sign any players whilst thats the case.

It may not be directly to do with financial irregularities, but the National League will have these rules in place to try and prevent it.... in some ways they're stricter than the Football League, and part of that is that they've had quite a few clubs come down from the FL that have been financial basket cases - going all the way back to Newport I think. By insisting that all paperwork is done properly and above board, it cuts down the wiggle room for those that might want to play fast and loose with contracts - they got burned with the infamous Boston saga when effectively there were illegal payments and Steve Evans got banned 15 years ago, so they make it pretty strict.

So although it doesn't mean Pools are doing this (after all, which of our players would be worth paying under the counter on recent performances), it does indicate a somewhat chaotic approach to the paperwork...

This is taken from what Duxbury had to say to the Echo.

We are under embargo by the National League. I can’t show the National League we can continue to the end of the season. They are in close contact and it is being reviewed constantly. They have been very supportive.

I seen one where he was having at pop at Ronnie Moore on the day we appointed Harrison.

He seems really professional.

We have been under a transfer embargo for a while so if it is because of a impending takeover it makes Saturday even more unpalatable.

So no transfer embargo, we allow a Manager who previously signed some very injury prone players and the ones who are fit are woeful ?
