FA Cup Draw; Newport v Tottenham, Yeovil v Man U - how many times did Pools reached the third round and get drawn away to an unattractive L1 or bottom end Championship side over the years rather than secure money-spinning ties such as this? Yeovil in particular appear to have been more fortunate than most over the years and they can be assured of live TV cash in addition to filling the ground against Jose's troops even if a weakened side actually turns up.

As for Newport, just how crucial was their dubious equaliser against Notts County on the final day of last season which gave them an opportunity to properly rebuild their squad (unlike Pools) - and would the off-field events that have led to Pools demise have worked out differently if that game have been drawn?

Although your sentiments are in the right place, it probably would've simply led to more money to be taken out of the club. .
Sorry, more repayment of old debts... allegedly. (Trying not to insinuate anything untoward incase I get into trouble)

I suspect if we'd stayed up we'd still be in this position. The club may have been more saleable admittedly, but even that's wishful thinking as I believe the real damage had been done by then anyway.

The Newport result was irrelevant. Pools were being stripped by the Essex conmen and the wheels of that rotten handcart were well and truly in motion.

Coxhall was filling his boots and leaving Sage as the fall guys holding the dying corpse, trying to squeeze the last drops of life out of it.

We are approaching 2 million in debt and Coxhall is rich. No football match was ever going to stop that.
