The much sought after hust dut is only £12 and comes in a variety of colours without a girly bobble :hand:

A Hartlepool United dut is a must have staple in the wardrobe of any fashion conscious Pools fan. Still not keen on that badge like.

Where did the word "dut" come from?

I've only ever heard it used in Hartlepool.

Norse/Germanic for hat, 'dutte' I believe.

They stole it from Divvy Tracey on the Headland in the 1600s.

Can a dut have a bobble? Seems wrong to me. And, if it comes from old Norse, there is no way vikings would have had bobbles on their hats. You can't be standing there with your axe in the air ready to cleave a priest and have him going, "Oooh, nice bobble, did your mum knit it?"

Obviously they put bobbles on because it was a bugger trying to sew horns into a woolly hat. Glad to see Mr PiN has brushed up on his local history, living down there in the Danelaw.
