For those like me, with no mates.

As far as I can see, its possible to get back as far as Peterlee.

£10 explorer day ticket will cover bus and metro.

X5 to Sunderland from outside Yates travelling via Blackhall and Peterlee
Departure times from opposite Yates 9.24 , 1024, 1124

Metro from Sunderland ( Saturday service ) possibly running from Railway Stn rather than Sunderland Park Lane Bus Station ( this was the case last Xmas 2016).

After the game you will need to get the Metro from Gateshead Stadium ( Saturday Service ) to get to Sunderland in order to get the 1805 X5 back to Peterlee. If metro terminates at Railway stn rather than bus station you will have to allow 5 mins to leg it from one to the other. From Peterlee you could get a taxi to Hartlepool.

Probably cutting it a bit fine, and the extra cost of a taxi for those living in Hartlepool , but beggars cant be choosers, for yakkers its feasible.

The Supporters Association are organising transport to Gateshead. Bookings are being taken every Friday night and on match days. £7 for members £8 non members. I know this doesn't help anyone living out of town but anyone who can get to the Corner Flag on Boxing Day can guarantee themselves transport to Gateshead although early booking is advisable.

What time you setting off? 2pm last time I heard. I reckon 1pm would be late enough, could be 6000 crowd at this game.

The Corner Flag will be open from 11.30am. Transport will leave from 1.30pm. This should allow plenty of time to get the ground.

Thanks for the offer Monkeybutt , there are 2 of us going though, probably go through on bus/metro then get one of my nieces to pick us up at Heworth or Sunderland.

At least buses and Metro making some sort of effort, but shocking no Northern Rail trains , given Boxing Day is now a big shopping day. Probably knock 500 off our travelling support.

1709 and 1721 from Gateshead Stadium should get you into Sunderland for 1734 and 1746 (25 mins )
