It's a tough game. We should win it but I can't see it being easy, who is making excuses? It's a cup tie away from home in a difficult environment against a team who don't lose and have some good players. Best result would be a draw and get them back here few more quid in , maybe TV interest and beat them in the reply and into the FA cup draw proper.

Their is no 'TV interest' in the preliminary rounds of the FA Cup, yes games are selected for Live streaming on the Internet but it's of no extra financial benefit for the teams involved. I think the money is put in a pot and distributed evenly. So the best result, as it is in every game of Football is to win bank the prize money and move on to the first round proper when TV money does start to come into play. It's not as if we're playing Manchester United it's South Shields would a replay seriously attract a decent crowd? Plus the last thing we want (well apart from a defeat) is another game especially with our mounting injury list, success in the League is our priority don't forget.

South Shields sold out the millhouse for a cup final last season so reckon it would attract a decent crowd would probably sell out at 10 quid a pop

I really don't see that much interest to be honest considering South Shields would only get the Rink End realistically (possibly a small section of the Millhouse seats like Blyth maybe taking them up to 1,200 or so) even at £5 a pop. A Tuesday night in late October in not even the First Round of the FA Cup you'd be lucky to see 2,000 home fans.

If they sold out the millhouse for a cup game and we weren't going to sell out you'd give them the millhouse surely?

They get 2500 for home games regularly, so I would think they could shift as many tickets as you'd give them.

Realistically I can't see that happening or the Police allowing it to.

I went to York v South Shields there was no Police inside or outside of the ground

By the way I've checked and overall crowd for that Cup final at the Vic was less than 1,500, a good crowd all the same but hardly selling out the Millhouse either. Obviously the opportunity to reach the FA Cup first round would create more interest though.

Realistically 3,000-3,500 which would be an excellent attendance for that stage of the competition. That is possibly on the high side our crowds in the First Round proper in recent years when it's only been £10 to get in have been made up of less than 2,000 home fans and those games have been on a Saturday not midweek.

It's South Shields I don't think we've quite regressed to the point that the Town would get excited about this fixture quite yet. What was the crowd when they recently played Darlo away?

I suspect if We were playing Dame Dorothy Holbrook and her over 95 all girl harmony Hussars twilight home for the confused F.C. there'd be some on here still expressing their doubts about getting a win.

I was at that game and was surprised at how well Shields played they wont be push overs thats for sure.

However " official figures " may suggest it was below 1500 but that full terrace and stand were nigh on filled, thats without the rest of the ground. I do though side with you, that I dont believe this fixture carries the interest outside of either club.

Just seen the 'highlights' of their game at Scarborough. I was actually laughing at the standard at certain points. Neither team could put two passes together and every other shot was passed to the keeper. If we can't beat that then we may as well give up now. That being said, 1-0 defeat.

They've won 50 of their last 52 matches, I don't care what level you are at, you can't dismiss stats like that.
