Scott Fenwick is linked with a return in the Mail. I'd of thought he'd be decent in the NL but he struggled at York.

If that's the level we're aiming at I can see us going the same way York did.

I lost all faith in him when he deleted me off Facebook.

I'd definitely have him back but only to play in the position he is meant to be in. No more of this playing on the wing shit.

Pam: So Craig, welcome to the club, any thoughts on signings? I know you have little knowledge of the English game and the Conference etc but anyone in mind?

Craig: Yeah theres this striker who sat on the bench for York when they got relegated that always caught my eye.

It's was probably his sheer weight of goals, you can't ignore scoring twice in the National League all season.

Possibly the most over rated player we have ever had. Northern League standard.

I liked his attitude and desire to succeed but simply not good enough, no thanks.

I disagree. I don't think he was played in his best position which is something we've done quite a bit of of late (eg Amond, Oates).

I think he knows where the goal is - I am only referring to memory when with us and when he played up front. He looks capable of scoring to me from what I recall. Yes he'll miss a few but I'd hope with games he'd improve. There isn't a striker alive who nets ever time but half the job is getting into the positions to miss them in the first place.

As for his record at York, I have no idea how often he played or the position he played in so I can't comment.

I also think our options will be limited and this isn't me saying settle for second best but we need a squad and I'd certainly have him in my squad in the Conference.

Ideally, I'd say we should be looking at League Two fringe players now but I don't think we'll get them, in the same way we didn't/couldn't sign League One fringe players when in League Two

He's all round game is nowhere near the standard we are looking for if we have any aspirations of getting back into the Football League. Poor touch, no real pace or height not a great deal of awareness or skill. He's a trier and can at times instinctively finish. I never got why some rated him? The few times I watched him play away from home he was even worse as well, like having ten men. As for his record at York he wasn't playing right back or in goal, like at Pools he was playing in an attacking position, 2 goals all season at that level is shit.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree. I do, however, absolutely take the point about not being able to get into two struggling sides, that certainly points to him being bobbins.

However, I do think there is a player trying to get out and one that can score. There are many players who look nowhere near good enough to demand a professional wage at some clubs then move on and all of a sudden they are the dog's nuts.

Now I am no fan of Ferguson or Man Ure but what the man achieved with bang average players is staggering and has to be applauded and the reason for this reference is that I believe Fenwick is one of those players who in the right surroundings could be a decent finisher.

What would the Mail know about local football?

I have to admit , at the time I was one of those who liked Fenwick, but his record since suggests whatever he did well for us , was a fluke. No doubt he will be back in the Northern League soon, scoring goals for fun

He spent a lot of his time on the pitch running into defenders then appealing open-armed to the Referee for fouls. As someone has already said if he is the type of player we are going to sign then we are going to struggle big-time. Luckily I doubt there's any substance to it if its in the Fail.

Just no. A trier of course but will not get better than he was and simply was not quite good enough. Rather have Louis Rooney who has been released and give the kid a go, he has room and time to develop into some player.
