We've lost our last seven league games against Stevenage. I get that we're not very good, but considering they're also not very good, that's a weird record.

I think we'll buck the trend. A 0-0 grind.

Fantastic imo.

Oates makes a massive difference up top. Winning headers and they were scared of his pace.

They were utter shite tbh.

Agreeing with the above post.
Thought Woods was MOM for me ang good to see Walker looking like the player from 2 years ago.
That 10 minute spell from minute 65 when we took the piss was a pleasure to watch.

Don't think we put a bad tackle in all game and their players were rolling about like they had been shot all game. Wankers. Nice to see a ref not falling for their screams and acting.

That was good, just get Oates to time his jumps better and we could be on to something there, it was the way we won that pleased me most, attack and shoot, passion + effort = winners

Woods took control of the middle, Harrison was immense at the back and the right and left back solid as a solid thingy clappp

Yep Woods MOM for me too - looked like he was really enjoying himself second half. Walker had his best game for about 3 years, Hawkins and Oates worked their socks off, back four all had good games.

Well done Sam Collins, you passed the audition...

It's a sign of a good performance that so many different man of the matches are being put forward, it's the best game Oates has had for the club his work rate was exceptional and he is has some pace, perfect against a couple of lumbering centre backs. Hawkins and Allesandra worked hard but both look a little low on confidence. Walker did very well he was always going to get tired before today he'd played five minutes all season which was last week. Woods and Featherstone had good games. The two full backs were excellent and provided an outlet and some width, Kavanagh looks a great player. Bates strolled through the game and Scott Harrison is playing like a new signing something has happened recently to him he looks like he did two years ago, full of confidence. It's a good story to give Harrison man of the match but 6 or 7 could have got it without argument.

Pleased for Sam Collins as it was a brave team selection, and it paid dividends. Good to see a load of honest grafters in there plus most of the decent footballers at the club

Really enjoyed it, rode our luck a couple of times second half but fully deserved 3 points, and loads of really good performances. Just hope the new manager sticks with playing football the right way.

Mind you, there's blokes will still be moaning whatever he does, the general shouting and groaning every time we play a ball backwards or sideways is embarrassing. Folk complaining about us stringing 15 passes together when we were 2-0 up and slagging players off was unbelievable.

Some of the comments today were embarrassing. Getting angry at players for keeping the ball with fifteen minutes left.

The best team performance for some time, top marks for everyone out there today. However apart from Billy Paynter our penalty taking is dire? For me if you try and be clever and hit it down the middle you deserve all you get. If you were any good you would have the confidence to strike it accurately into any of the four corners where the keeper can't get it. Sort it out in training! We got away with it today.

Players obviously put in that extra effort for collins today. What a difference it makes having someone with a bif of a clue in the dugout. We could be a difficult side to play in the last few months of the season.

Oates was probably put off by the idiot prematurely hitting play on the music before he took the kick.

Agree with all of the above. Don't think there was one player who didn't put a shift in today, must have been the hardest ever decision to award MOM. Can't believe nobody's mentioned Scott Harrison's 70 yard cross field pass with the outside of his right foot mind !!
What a treat to see Nathan Thomas back on the pitch again too. Straight back into the action as he skinned their left back.
Cause for optimism - need to carry it on at Newport next week & beyond though.

We played better than average today.

The ref decent? I reckon given the chance with some niggle in the game he'd have been absolutely fucking hopeless. He got the penalty decision correct to be fair but his inconsistency with his yellow was embarrassing. He failed to book a Stevenage player for an absolutely cynical foul when one of our lads got away from his marker a couple of yards from the box in a shooting or crossing position. Then about 30 seconds later he booked Rhys Oates for having the ball twatted against him by the keeper's clearance!? Then Thomas got fouled in exactly the same manner as the earlier foul, completely identical and the lad got booked. He was shite.

Thought the ref was decent. Dealt with their injury feigning well. In fact I'm sure he even laughed at their huge center back going down like a sack of shit when Hawkins touched him.

I just thought the Oates booking was an absolute joke, especially after the foul seconds before that wasn't deemed one. It normally only takes one incident to put me off a ref.

What I loved about Thomas skinning him was that you could see it before the ball even reached him. A real swagger about him when he came on, even just for five minutes.

You cant possibly think Oates didn't deserve to get booked. Keeper went to kick the ball and he lifted his foot about 3 foot off the ground to block it. That's a yellow every single time.

No question he should have booked the number 22 for the foul on Hawkins immediately before that though

Of course it's a yellow. I think PJs point is the ref let them off with a very poor challenge just a minute before. The same lad who then would have received a 2nd yellow later on. Inconsistency from refs yet again

Was it the same lad as well?

Exactly my point about inconsistency. Someone gets booked for something daft and reactionary but cynical and deliberate fouls you need to do twice to get booked. He got skinned twice and was allowed to do the same thing twice. If the ref had done his job properly with the first foul we might have seen us go 3-0 up as he couldn't have just wiped him out, if Thomas had have taken his shirt off that's a yellow as well though.

What I find astounding is that refs will give yellows all day for what Oates did but allow dangerous tackles, or ones that could injure players to go unpunished.

2 bad challenges from one player results in one yellow, yet if Oates had done what he'd done twice, he would have been sent off.

Are we seriously saying blocking a goalkeepers kick is in some way worse than a dangerous tackle or one that stops an attack in full flow?

It's utter fucking madness

From the side as well (I'm guessing you two are behind the goal as you saw him raise his foot to block it) Oates was not stood right in front of the keeper he was a yard or two away it was a bit daft from the keeper trying to clear it so quickly with so many bodies in the box. It's all that's wrong with the laws of the game though.
