Good luck to him- however hasn't lasted long as either Boro assistant or under Cooper here.

I hope he doesn't walk if its not going right and has a bit of bottle and sticks it out-minimum expectation- keep us up-make us better-but some fire in the bellies of the spineless.

If he gets us climbing the league to safety then buggers off to take the Leeds job then I don't give a shit. Number one priority is survival this season. I don't think we need to improve massively to achieve this well before the end of the season.

Coxall has gone up massively in my estimation, and if Hignett does do one then I don't think we'd hang about appointing again, unlike the good/bad old days under Uncle Ken.

I bet if you bought a rowing boat you'd name it Titanic.

He might bugger off if he's successful.

No problem with that, it's called ambition, it's a win win, Jimmy Flloyd did it with Burton, Clarke will end up doing it with Rovers, players do it every month.

With decent budget & Vardy money behind him.

I don't like the way he publicly applied for the manager's job when a bloke still had it.

I like the way most posts (or atleast a fair few) suggest Hignett is almost a guaranteed success, from which he'll inevitably move on! I don't think it will be easy for him on Saturday as improving player confidence is tricky. Putting players in their preferred position will be a big help though. I'm actually not so worried about the quality of the playing staff, it's the mental part of the game that needs sorting most urgently (assuming a sensible formation).
I definitely think Hignett has potential though and am excited about Saturday, although I was excited about Moore's first game and didn't we get thrashed?!!

I thought he stopped short of it when interviewed a few months back in The Gazette. Just said in hindsight he wished he hadn't left when the Boro job came up.

Or was there something else?

Probably a question of interpretation; I read that as 'gizza job'! But it was sufficiently bland. I don't think, however, it's a coincidence that he has the job a few weeks later.

As long as can discuss the etiquette of the appointment process we know the world's still sane.

Yeah his intentions in that article weren't particularly subtle but tough to accuse him of something based on interpretation, he never specifically mentioned the current Pools job.
