They don't make me cough but they scrape the roof of me mouth off. So do pineapple chunks.

Bretts used to do these little boiled fish-shaped sweets with sugar on that were lush.

That's weird. I was just thinking of those little fish sweets. But then I often do.
I wonder if they were cod or haddock......

They've got some good stuff here- http://www.aquarterof.co.uk/boiled-crun ... tml?page=3

but no little fish sweets which is a bit of a disgrace when there is a special Yorkshire Mixture and a choice of Pineapple Chunks.

Some people actually drink pear drops. I believe they call them Copperburg or something. They smell a bit like a car paint shop of the 1960s.

Why does anyone buy pear drops? I've always thought they were more like a medicine than a sweet.

I tell you what properly takes the roof of your mouth off - soor plums. Tried one for the first time not long back and was ready to ring 999. Evil things.

I do like a good sweet thread. I'm sure The Colonel will be on in a bit, saying how much he likes to suck a Fishermen's Friend.

You should find my plums are more comforting to the roof of your mouth. Be more worried about getting hair in your teeth though. As for people sucking friends of fisherman, think that belongs on another board.
