Just thought I'd put this out there. I've emptied the cupboard in the kitchen today and thrown out some out of date bottles of Red, Brown, BBQ, Burger relish, chili and red Jalapeno sauce. I hate waste, also the bottles were nearly empty ish (in my sort of mitigation). Still have newish bottles of Mayo, Red Jalapeno sauce and Sweet Thai Chili Sauce.

When I was dragged up we had Red or Brown sauce. Do we have too much choice these days? Do we buy too much that isn't needed (apart from occasionally)?

I took me Dad to Poundstretcher today and even in there, there were loads of choice (about 10 different BBQ and Chili sauces). How do they sell em all?

Or are we just better food educated, worldy travelled and open to new culinary adventure's? :confusion-confused:

At Christmas I always buy loads of pickles, a Stilton cheese and a bottle of port - and hoy most of it out the following October. Still got a Stilton sealed in one of those blue pots that is about 5 years old!

I think we've all become spoiled for choice and a bit twatty.

A few years back I was lucky enough to live in the Caribbean - it was ace - but the biggest supermarket was smaller than the old kwik save near the library.

Now this is on one of the richest countries in the world (GDP wise and a tax haven). How did they do it? - By removing the need to have 20 choices of dried pasta etc on the shelves. In many respects it was a bit like a communist state - one choice pasta sauce, 1 flavoured drink etc.

It was great - I loved it - saved time shopping etc

I came home to the UK - walked into Tesco's - nearly had a mental breakdown in the shop - why do we need so many choices of one food type? When the reality is it all tastes the fucking same anyway.

Boils my piss - I can't stand shopping now and the wife has banned me from going. :-)

I love food shopping, takes me 3 hours to round Tesco, 20 types of pasta sauce and it all does taste different, i have tried everyone, I make my own generally but when you can`t be arsed, a jar in reserve helps.

Bog roll, from soft to chaffing, choice is good.
