Certain parties with an anti bunker agenda are trying to link this 'Kick it out' statement with this board however I for one don't believe it but lets look at some reality.

Facebook supporters group comments (open to anyone) banana suits, openly stating that they'll be blacking up, Openly stating that they will 'go the whole hog'. A variety of openly racist comments such as 'what will black supporters do'? Answer from one of the FB gliterati "He'll get called a nigger".

The reality is that the complaints could have been generated from many places; Facebook, the Mail, Northern Echo, ITB, the Bunker or elsewhere. But it suits certain agendas to roll out hte anti bunker sentiment.

It's bollocks but fall for it if you wish.

A lot of people are still missing the point in what was being discussed. The main message on here was that it was a poor choice in fancy dress as in this day and age it can be seen as controversial, which has been proven with yesterday's events. I think people forget there is more to life than social media and message boards, somebody could have read in the paper and contacted kick it out. But how is the bunker to blame for folk buying banana suits and openly admitting that they are blacking up.

I think people don't realise that your Facebook profile is wide open for anyone to have a look and to read the stuff your putting on there.

A couple of people have ignorant anti Islamic racist tripe all over as soon as you click on the profile.

It always staggers me that people are willing to put this sort of stuff online about themselves. What about applying for a job and stuff? I know for a fact that it's what a lot of companies do now ie. Check people out on Facebook so freely telling the World that you're a bigot isn't very sensible is it.

It would have taken only a few people totally unconnected to Pools but possibly from the Town to read a couple of those threads to create this unwanted media attention. Blaming 'The Bunker' is borderline mental. People complaining to kick it out is going a bit far but we clearly still have a minority stuck in the dark ages.

I thought it came from Carlisle the contact with "kick it out"? (Not sure if it was supporters or club).

I can't see what the fuss is anyway. Clarifying the situation with kick it out first was sensible IMO.

Like all towns, we have a x percentage of the population who are just plain stupid. Don't forget to factor that in.

Exactly, the kick it out statement did not say we were intending to be offensive or racist, it just pointed out (like a lot on here) that 'blacking up' is still not appropriate to do due to historical negative stereotypes associated with the practice.

I can't see how Kick It Out wasn't going to kick up a storm at some stage. IF people did wear banana suits, take inflatable and real bananas, black up their faces as people openly said they were going to do on facebook, ITB and on here then the media storm would have been a whole lot worse than it is now.

Now to me the media report read like Kick It Out are reminding fans not to black up and the statement from John the organiser says there were no intentions. Most people are thinking Kick It Out are being overly cautious than Pools are racist. To be honest I'd rather have this statement than an investigation and a media storm. It's just a shame Pools didn't make a statement clarifying they didn't want people to black up then non of this would have happened.

Pools have put the Kick it Out statement on the official website I'm not sure they need to do any more than that.

It's clarication, dress up, hopefully enjoy the day, just don't be fucking stupid. Where is the problem in that?

Am I missing the point, how is wearing a banana suit offensive, and what does it have to do with Bob Marley.
I am under the assumption bananas being a fruit eaten by monkeys is a reference to us being monkey hangers or am I simply being thick due to worrying about this afternoons game

anyone with a agenda can twist anything so it is offensive to someone. at the end of the day no matter what someone does some people will feel they are offended that is life so its best to let it all wash over . no big deal move on

Could the complaints have came from black pools fans?

In the midst of all this hysteria no ones even considered a black pools fan might actually be offended by this.

Regarding the belief that nobody off this board contacted kick it out, one member has openly said they had contacted them.

Maybe Marvin Morgan made a complaint.

Whoever complained has done everyone a huge favour.

But dont let that get in the way of the whining.

According to The Mirror it was five Hartlepool and "numerous" fans from other clubs so it wasn't just five Pools fans.

You haven't considered the possibility that it might be connected to people throwing bananas on the pitch in the 70's/80's? Or likening black players to monkeys?
