that was an astonishing stat on another thread... 18 of our last 19 wins have been when we've opened the scoring

Other teams are clearly aware of this it seems...!!!!!!

The way the game is set up afterwards is in itself determined by that opening goal. Surely not contained in any coaching manual in the world. A new chapter is needed

I think it also highlights our lack of depth especially in forward areas. We have nobody outside of the first eleven capable of changing the pattern of the game. So once a team go ahead against us we become predictable and quite easy to play against. Sit deep with numbers behind the ball and hit us on the break. We could do with at least a couple more attacking options because at the minute you're looking at our bench and it hardly is going strike fear into opposition teams.

That's pretty impressive considering how crap we've been at various times in the past.

Its funny, well it is to me, that we all still talk about how crap we used to be.

In those does we used to consistently finish around 16th or worse in the bottom division.

Where are we currently?

Just asking.

that team just needed a spark, cosd there were good players here at the time

I can see major similarities... good individual players not quite gelling as the entire finished article

This is to be expected, with an influx of new/younger players into the first team

ok - put it another way.

94 time, players like Ingram, Lynch, Damian Henderson etc etc... we were in roughly the same position... but would anybody honestly say those players have the same capabilities as our current squad?

Baldwin v Peter Billing?

Duckworth v Ingram?

Scott Sloan v Luke James?

Look I get it, right.

But the league table doesnt lie.

And parmo may well be right, it might just need a spark.

But what if we dont get one?

Parmo has also hinted we are on the verge of a relegation scrap.

If that happens, and heaven forbid we go down, I dont recall any of the ex "shite" players doing that to us.

We may be very close to having a very good team, but looking at the league table, we are also perilously close to danger.

Only two weeks ago a few on here were saying we were brilliant and would get in the play offs.

Which is it?

Both. A couple of weeks ago we were brilliant, and on the edge of the playoffs.

Who'd have thought that one of the youngest starting elevens in our history might be a bit inconsistent!?

This situation requires a bit of understanding and patience but I reckon this team will only get better. We might have to watch a few disappointments while they are growing though.

I think next season is one to look forward to.

Lies about what? A league table doesn't have to lie to be different at the end of the season from what it is in January
Obviously teams often move up or down a league, during the course of a season, often both. sctatchinghead
