I'd say more people clapped when his name was read out than booed his first couple of touches, you are always going to get the odd (noisy) moron.

It can't have bothered him that much, as again even in defeat to his great credit he clapped all four sides as he left the Vic. Top bloke.

Any player that refuses to celebrate scoring a goal against an old club should be held in the utmost respect (IMHO). Too many players are mercanaries and wouldn't give a flying **** about it being an old club or not. The few that do care should be applauded.

Mind you, us Walsall fans took it a bit too far when Andy "Rambo" Rammel returned to Bescot. We were singing his name as he scored against us :uhoh:

As for Westwood, what a turn around the bloke has had this season. Last season I thought you lot were mad for rating him so highly. There were times when I'd have gladly driven him back north. This season he has really come good, even though he's generally been playing right-back.

Good luck for the rest of the season. I hope I'm wrong but I think you'll nick first place off us by the end of the season.

I still say though.............when the game kicked off he was fair game for abuse.

Agree with that. Old players can be legends before and after the game, but for those 90 minutes in between ........

Did'nt have the best of starts to his Walsall career , and to be honest was a target for the Bescot boo boys. This season Westy has really come into his own , at full back or centre back the mans quality

I like Westwood, but during those 90 minutes you are part of the opposition and if you can 'distract' them to our advantage then so be it. Saying that, some people do have a problem distinguishing between 'distraction' and frothing vitriolic abuse.
