i think the players have escaped a lot of due criticism from the fans this season, just as Turner wanted it. He said that he would rather the criticism was aimed at him rather than the players, in order to keep their morale up.....maybe his crazy statements were meant for that very reason

But wouldn't it have been better simply to get them to play to their potential? Then no criticism would have been directed at all.

Jose Mourinho used to do that at Chelsea and he won two PL titles. Maybe Turner isn't so daft after all.
