Totally unfootball related!

http://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/news/Taxi-driver-dies-two-weeks.6051447.jp

Surely someone out there know's who done this, He lived round the corner from me and he was a fellow who loved his job and a few years ago saved me and my mates from having a nasty smash on the a19 when the tyre burst going up to newcastle in his taxi (never been so scared).

What type of town is this becoming you cant even let your kids play out now!!!

and my second is

How long will it be before Hartlepool town centre is on a level par with billingham town centre(sorry billingham Poolies). The standard of shops are a joke how are we to attract the bigger names if the towns full of charity shops which another one is opening according to the mail and pound shops,It will be only a matter of time before boots and mark and spencers pull the plug if we dont attact more shops. Jesus we having the Tall ships here in 200+ days but were are they to spend the money they will bring in........

rant over!

1. Has the post mortem results been made public? Whatever injuries he received might not have contributed to his death. It might be a complete coincidence. I'm not condoning what the attackers did, I'm just saying we don't know what he died of.

2. The Middleton Grange Shipping Centre is privately owned by the Premier Property Group. To them it's all about filling floor space and getting rent, not quality. As long as Greggs remains, they'll be happy.

The cabbie was forced to stop the bus when a female passenger jumped out while the vehicle was still moving.

As he went to check she was okay, he was punched and kicked by three men, who had also been in the silver bus. The attackers then made off with keys before Ian phoned colleagues for help.

Surely the taxi firm know who made the booking & have an address fror the pick up/drop off,we keep seeing telly reports on how police intelligence can do this that & the other yet they cant catch dimwitted drunken thugs sctatchinghead
More like cant be arsed to catch them if you ask me.

I heard that tale years ago. Apparently they dont pay rent as the town centre needs M&S so badly.

Im not so sure. Im sure the worlds largest Greggs would go down a treat right there

M&S were supposed to be moving to the Marina a couple of years ago but not sure if the recession made them have a re-think.

This town has nothing. Unless of course some chav single mother needs to shove a pasty in her kid's mouth to stop him yarping.

I was up there just after Christmas and I was horrified by the town centre. A visitor could be forgiven for assuming that Hartlepool is inhabited by centipedes with a penchant for very cheap shoes and a fetish for pound shops. I wouldn't be suprised if these days people went shopping in Horden in preference to Middleton Grange.

Horden is probably better the MGSC these days. Im sure it has more to it than greggs, poundshops and shoeshops anyway

to be honest if you like buying package holidays, sportswear, phones, fragrances and tat, Middleton Grange can be quite a vibrant place. In terms of good shops there aren't any, and the M&S has all the charm of death's waiting room.

Go to any small to medium sized town, and you wont see anything any different. People prefer to go to places like the metro centre, teesside Park etc.

Town centres have no chance...........especially when the stupid fookers then charge you to park your car there as well.

Retail parks have destroyed town centres, not the good folk of Hartlepool. Stop blaming yourselves for all of the worlds problems.

What next? Those that use Greggs for a quick lunch are to blame for the earthquake at Haiti?

Very true I live in Huntingdon and the town centre is shocking, same with Abingdon although it does help having Cambridge and Oxford about 10miles away.

I stopped in Huntingdon one night with the family looking for summat to eat - can't remember why we were driving along the A14 - but anyway the old phrase of "when we got there it was shut.." definitely applied here!!!!
