Watched this game last night, bloody crazy!

Keeper headbuts the ref yet stays on the field, what the feck is that blue tape thing on his kneck!!

3 sendings off

Egypt players all start kissing the turf when they score

That tournament just gets stupider every year!

Yes, but it's typical that when the world cup was drawn, Algeria were noted as an easy option for England in the group stages. Then they get to the African Nations competition and start playing out of their skins. It'll probably be a problem game for England now.

It started off pretty uneventful, then just came into life with the first sending off, the ref totally lost control of the game and towards the end, when the keeper is sent off, you can see them crowding him and barging him, if he'd stayed strong and sent the keeper off first half, he could have kept the control.

He was on the short list for the world cup, i reckon he'll be off that now.

Typical african countries though frodraff they can't defend for shit and that keeper is awful, i can't see them troubling us much.

You don't see many games played with more 'passion' than that! Joking aside, the Algerian team were a bunch of thugs and the Egyptians did well to keep their collective heads. The ref was a complete shambles. For a point it even looked like he wanted to even it up after giving the penalty!

England should fooking stuff them in the WC. They got beat 4-0 off their greatest rivals in the semi-finals of a competition that they had a realistic chance of winning.

(cue thread being dug up on June 19th)

I watched the game last night.I agree Yubep - I thought it was an absolute travesty that the referee didn't send that player off AFTER that player point blankly head-butted him.

If that had happened in this country, the player would have been sent off. Simple as.

I thought Algeria lost their discipline in the end and I think Egypt will go on to win the tournament now - they look too strong and consistent a side to lose.

Egypt are pretty much accepted to be the best African side at the moment. Despite that Algeria beat them in a qualifying play off for the World Cup. They aren't the best of mates and there was scrapping in North African areas of French cities after that result, last night's loss of discipline came once Algeria knew they'd lost. Egypt would probably have given England a hard match but Algeria probably won't, but they do have passion so I wouldn't write them off.

It was only a generation ago they were chucking spears at each other ... so you can't expect too much on a football field.
