I've alway fancied it, I have an interest in politics and my dad used to be the mayor. Not sure I could handle all the red tape and that. Plus some tabloid would probably do an expose on my private life. rolfl refred rolfl refred rolfl

This question has probably been asked before, do you have to live in the town, or more specifically the actual ward? Or will 10 miles outside do?

Exactly my point.

I do believe that if you declare an interest in something, then you are not allowed a vote on issues relating to your interest.

Well thats ok.

We just change the fookin rules.

Its not recket science is it?

It depends on what your interest is. Are politicians barred from voting on arts funding simply because they watched Jack and the Beanstalk at Christmas? Are they disallowed to vote on the rail network because they've been on a train? Attending games should not constitute a conflict of interest.

No. Quite the contrary. They vote on the rail network precisely because they DO have a rail season ticket and know the issues from the dirty end.

If a common or garden councillor declares his intentions when campaigning, you can't very well turn round and tell him once he's elected that he's not allowed to vote his promises into effect just because he watches Pools!

As for Stuart, his position is different. He is an executive full-time mayor whose power is disproportionate to that of any one councillor, and he has had a rather closer involvement with HUFC than most of us.

Four candidates is more than enough, with the possibility of more to came in the future.
