It's so all the kids can measure how many snowballs per square yard ( oops sorry, I meant metre) they can make.

No we don't.

Only old gimmers do.

We went metric decades ago.

Metric measurements are all that are taught in schools.

Metric measurements are all that are used in industry.

So what are you "grrrrrrrrrr-ing" about?

Inches are redundant and rightly so, the metric system is a much better system imo.

We still use both systems. If you ask someone how far it is to from Hartlepool to Newcastle, or how fast they drive, or how tall they are, or how far out a goal was scored from, they will rarely give you a metric answer.

The only reason I use metric quotes is that I can't convert them back into proper measurements!

Silly me, I thought that you were talking about depth measurements of snow.

If it's snowing that hard in Hartlepool that you're wanting to measure it in miles then I'd best head home now.

Are you retired, or do you insist on measuring stuff at work in old fashioned out-dated units?
