Not too much to tell, it was a typical dour winters affair but we fought tooth and nail and scraped a win. Make no mistake, Mansfield deserved something from the game but a mixture of poor attacking and solid defending kept them out. They did have a couple of cast iron sitters which they failed to take one particularly in the first half which a blind man on a galloping horse would have put away but the scores remained 0-0 at half time.

No one was especially outstanding except perhaps Boland and Clark who were particularly solid but that said, we did miss Nelson. We scored after Daly missed a very poorly taken penalty which rebounded twice and Monkhouse headed it in. Dufy could and probably should have scored not long afterwards but to criticise any of the players today is churlish.

A good solid if unspectcular performance in atrocious conditions and the sort of game that you need to win to get out of this division. The run marches on to 9 games and 14 years since we conceded, an amazing achievement and we are one win away from an automatic spot.

658 very noisy and happy Poolies left the ground cold and wet but happy.
