It didn't. They were Blue and Red until 1985. John Smart had them changed.

ADG supervised the fitting of those seats. Seriously, he did!

Don't take the pee.

ADG obviously got the wider seats seats fitted with the, err, "wider", gentleman fan in mind. I, for one, am eternally grateful. :uhoh:

Those orange/green/grey seats in the mill house stand were fitted in the summer of 1989. I am sure it was in the mail at the time that Eddie Barnett had got them on the cheap, a job-lot deal second hand from abroad, some european stadium somewhere.

That was the same summer when Bob Moncur disappeared on his round the world yacht expedition, leaving us with a dreadful team full of kids for the start of the 89-90 season. I remember I had the tyne tees pre-season preview taped on video with pools saying that they couldn't afford to improve the team because they had had to spend the money on the new seats!

The old blue and red seats in the mill house stand were wrecked during the game against cardiff at the start of the 86-87 season (the day the smoggies played at the vic). The seats from the two end sections were taken out to fill in the broken seats in the middle sections, meaning that from 86 until 89 the end sections resembled pretty much just a covered terrace. When it looked like that, it always reminded me of the stand at Billingham Synthonia's ground!!

Aye, coming out at the end of that game, I remember the mill house car park was like a war-zone. Literally having to duck to avoid a steady stream of half-bricks flying around in a three-way riot between pools and cardiff and the smoggies waiting for their game.

Thinking back, its amazing that our match didn't finish till 4:50pm and then the smoggies kicked off against Port Vale at 5:30pm, 40 mins later. I know it was arranged as a favour to them at short notice, but it was madness nevertheless.

Couldn't imagine Cleveland Police approving that one somehow in this day and age!!

We saw a Cardiff lad get badly beaten up on Raby Road near the Odeon. About 9-10 Cardiff lads jumped on 3-4 Pools lads...not a great idea 10 seconds from the Mill House...soon it was 9 against 75... One of them got left on his own and took a right battering, one bloke was smashing his head with a wooden stick off the fence that used to be round Rasuls shop....barmy organisation when you think about it.

Then further up Raby Road there was a Pools/Boro kick-off literally 30 seconds later.

Aahhh....

those seats do need replacing like!!!! People stand on the back of your coat and stuff when they're shuffling along behind you!!! They couldn't do that if the stand had proper seats!!!!

One advantage about them though, is you can bounce around the seated area similar to terracing when we score!!!

which reminds me of Watson's hat trick against Hull - I was so pissed after being out all day before the match, that I rolled down the full stand jumping about cos I couldn't balance properly!!!! The lads hid me away from the coppers before they could throw me out!!!

Not only that but they sometimes use your head and shoulders as a sort of bannister, to balance on. As in, 'Oops, sorry, pet. Heh heh heh.'
