PostPosted: Wed Sep 09, 2009 2:13 pm
Hello,

BBC Tees Sport airs each weeknight 6-8. On Wednesdays, as you may have heard, we feature the 'Fans' Panel' - 3 fans from Pools, Darlo and Boro having their say on the team, and general football talking points.

If you'd be interested in being on the fans panel, then please get in touch. Email tees.sport@bbc.co.uk with some contacts details. We'd invite you onto the panel at our studios in Middlesbrough approx. every 6 weeks. Feel free to get in touch if you'd like any more details.

Thanks,

James Mountford, BBC Tees Sport

Will it be chaired by Alistair "After last weeks great win at Oldham we have Chris Turner, Hartlepool's Manager, in the studio. So Chris, What do think of Boro's fantastic start?" Brownlee?

Compo - just to clarify, it is 3 fans - 1 from Pools, 1 from Darlo and 1 from Boro.

Fair play to James, he's a top bloke.

Must be said however, that I am sick of the overkill afforded, as ever, to the Boro by Ali Bongo. Am I not right in thinking they were just a workaday Championship side now?

Come on James, have a word.
Very few Pools or Darlo fans are going to tune in to yet another 2-hour feature on the woman who cleans the lavs at Boro's training ground!

That test card just reminds me of life on mars and the spooky girl who used to pop out of the tv.

Seriously, if you pay travel for me and the wife I'd be in like Flynn and I'm radio experienced. In fact I've been on a chat show for the last two weeks, live in the studio and I'm doing pre-prod for a bi-monthly history of rock'n'roll on Friday. Check out 107.4FM.

I thought you could actually use the testcard to tweak the colours on your system, Mutters.
I was also wondering what the 'F' at the bottom stood for...until I saw the New banner picture.

You mean they play football too???

The job spec should read...

WANTED, token Hartlepool supporter for minor supporting role in Borocentric discussion programme.
Applicant should be fully conversant with the history of Middlesborer FC and have some token appreciation of Hartlepools United. A working knowledge of links between the borers and Hartlepools United is essential to feed Mr Brown-Noses appetite for switching the most unlikely of subjects onto a borer perspective.
DO NOT expect the reduced circumstances of said club to in any way alter the fact that they are the star and you should know your place in the pecking order. We would prefer a passive participant willing to promote the illusion that the borers are still relevant and just happy to be allowed on the radio.
The ideal candidate will be a borer supporter living in West Hartlepool, but we are prepared to consider applications from people who actually support Hartlepools United, if we have to.
Remember, you're not here to talk about anything other than the borers, a mindless contributor is a valued contributor, now shut up till you're spoken to and sing after me.. all together now..." Come on Borers, Come on Borers ad nauseum"

Like most others, I can't get away with brownlee at all. The low point was trying to listen to an interview with ian butterworth last season when brownlee's tangential leaps back to the subject of boro reached past the level if parody. He also kept reminding the listeners (4 or 5 times) that they soon be speaking to JUNINHO! LIVE!!! (have BBC tees just cracked this technology?) it was beyond irritating; it was unprofessional.
The bloke is an itinerant boro fan who goes from station to station of whoever's covering the borers, how he does, I have no idea. But, he seems to have imposed a vice like grip on the output of Radio Tees, so much so that it's really not worth listening to if the borers are playing, the sheer arrogance of a phone in for boro supporters only, post match, ended my association with the station. ultimately it's down to the station to sort this out, be cause for a station purporting to cover the locality it's interest wanes dramatically the further you get from the centre of Middlesbrough. it's a Teesside thing, it'll never change whatever happens.
