Are playing Accrington at Turf Moor tonight with all of the proceeds going to Accrington, Owen Coyle is giving new signing David Nugent his debut in an attempt to encourage more Burnley fans to turn out.

You've got take your hat off to them, how many other Premiership clubs would give a fuck about a fourth division club who need £300,000? Would any of the so called 'Big Three' do it for us? Would they bollocks.

Burnley FC= a proper football club who haven't got above their station because they are in the Premiership.

Great gesture. I think Man Utd did a similar thing for Bishop Auckland, although not at Old Trafford. Sunderland and Newcastle went to Darlo pre season.
There's not enough of it though.

Just a shame the administrators kept all the money from those games & the fund raiser rather than use them to pay club staff

Accy away a few years back was a top, top day out. The ground is a tip but it least it was an original tip not like the plain all seater grounds most clubs have today. It will probably be my one and only trip to accrington and it will stay with me til the die I move to the other side :coool:

Would you like to tell us who were the administrators in the case of Bishop Auckland who kept all the money?
In Darlo's case the administration law applies. The point is that premiership/local sides were prepared to help. You can't blame them as to where the money ends up.

I was refering to Darlo, not Bishops. Yes the local teams were prepared to help but had they known the money wasnt going to help the club but just going in the administrators pockets they may not have been so keen. Why else do you think the Boro friendly was called off? It had nothing to do with injuries, they just didnt want the administrators creaming off even more money for the half arsed job they had been doing.

Was it the Administrators fault that you ended up in that position then employed them?

Do you want to get away with paying them less than a penney in the pound as well!?

Regrettably Mr J it couldn't. The administrator was running the company (DFC) independent of the directors and all income is handled by him. The difference is, his hourly fees are huge and maximised to extract as much from the pot as possible. Insolvency work is very very lucrative. It wouldn't even have helped if they'd played the games away and the creditors were paid direct. He'd just refuse to disclose who they are. Also lets not forget that the biggest creditor is the bloke who led them into admin so why should he be paid out?? It's his fault the SJA, hotels and local businesses didn't get paid but he's lumped in with them and selective payment is illegal in administration.

And maybe, just maybe, Mr Singh is more optimistic for his alternative plans which don't include a hotel but involve demolishing a chunk of the ground to replace it with a takeaway, a 24 hour garage, a launderette and a shop on the corner.

Bringing this thread back to it's original idea. Am I the only one who thinks what Burnley have done isn't particularly impressive. It's no great effort on their behalf to have a training match against Accrington, that gives their new signing a chance to play with his new colleagues. Now if they had given them a £300,000 interest free loan, to try to move some of the Sky money to where it is needed, then I would be impressed.

Apparently Accy Stanley are so short of money that they have to borrow the lawn mower from Burnley!!

On another note, it gets me so mad the amount of people from around here who are suddenly Burnley supporters. People who were staunch Blackburn fans too. Talk about bandwagon jumpers.

Nothing like a crisis to bring them flocking

Mind, people weren't exactly flooding in to help Darlo were they?

I think the most important question should be, why did Accrington get in this mess in the first place. Even I knew before the start of the season their crowds would be shite, couldn't the chief exec see this!!

Haven't they taken note of Bournemouth, Stockport. etc...

The administrators were employed by Houghton as he had used them before, that in itself says enough about them. As for them paying less then a penny in the pound, its scandalous and shouldnt be allowed to happen no matter who it is.

No, they weren't mate. They were appointed by the bank. You can't pick your administrators although a certain amount of sleight of hands goes on. Mr PJ, the administrators ALWAYS get paid in full and oddly enough, their fee always matches the available cash. confised

Funny how Houghton has used them a few times before then, or are you talking about a major coincidence here?
